 I think every team - when you are playing a team like people say the San Francisco 49ers are - they are not going to come out and show you what people say they are,

 [The Dolphins, who spent last week at the San Francisco Hilton after playing the previous Sunday in Seattle, certainly weren't overwhelmed by rampant enthusiasm for the 49ers.] This is San Francisco, and they were a dynasty at one time, ... Yet you really don't see too many fans around here cheering for their team. I thought we'd at least see some hecklers when we got here, but that hasn't happened, either.

 We are excited about retaining Derek as a member of the 49ers team. We were diligent in our efforts to retain Derek as a member of the San Francisco 49ers and we are pleased that we were able to reach an agreement that reflects his value to the team while addressing future needs of the club.  We didn't execute as well as we should have in the red zone. It goes to show that the best team doesn't always win. I think that we were the better team and the stats showed we were the better team. But (the 49ers) made more plays to win the ballgame.

 I don't think people really believe that we can get the job done. There's still a lot of people thinking that we can't make the playoffs. We're a 3-1 football team and they still think we're the worst team in this division. That kind of motivates us a little bit to go out and show everybody what we're really capable of doing.

 It's funny, but when there are dominant teams, there are a number of people who rail about the fact that they're always seeing the Dallas Cowboys or the San Francisco 49ers or the Green Bay either in the playoffs or in the Super Bowl.

 We're just a hungry team. We're trying to prove people wrong. We want to show people we're just not a one-sided team.

 We were playing to show people how New Orleans feels -- the resolve to push on and come back. And, at least for today, this team exemplified that.
