Once your bowl game gezegde

 Once your bowl game is over this is what you work for. That's why I want to come here and compete. I don't want to delay it any longer. I'm ready to get back to doing some football-type things instead of working on mainly these drills.

 It's a pretty intense process, but I think it's a great chance to show what you're capable of doing against the best athletes in the country. I've been working on position drills before the bowl game. Afterward, I'll come back to work on different skills I'll need for the combine.

 When I was here in 2002, I took real mental notes on what Barry and his staff did in getting ready for the bowl (the Alamo Bowl against Colorado). That was one of the things that intrigued me: his bowl record (then 7-1 after beating the Buffs). I think both Mike and Barry have great plans for bowl games. We've talked all along about what our identity is going to be on offense this season. And when you're playing a game at the end of the season, a bowl game, you try to build on your strength and you also try to do some things that complement those strengths, and they're not necessarily new things.

 As a university, as a football program, we don't condone any type of activities such as that. Certainly, I think, that detracts from a great bowl game and what the spirit of college football is all about.

 The team is ready to play and is wanting to get the whistle blowing. A lot of the new things we have installed and the new things that we have been working on are starting to show. The team has been really successful in the drills and the things that we have been really focused on, which have been blocking and defense.

 First, get him healthy and look at a potential rehab assignment, work on some things and get him to the point where we feel like he's ready to go back out there and compete again.

 I've had this question asked probably 20 times after [a few] days of drills. Well, can he do it? Yeah, if the game was drills, sure. But the game is the game. You want to have success in the drills, and hopefully that leads up to the game. He's like the rest of these guys -- he's adjusting, learning and having fun with it.

 Fundamentals are the focus during spring drills. Every spring, we work on blocking and tackling and the little things that end up being the big things - the basics of football.

 We have an outstanding group of kids this season. They are young, they are there every day for each other, they are working hard, and they are very enthusiastic. They are there every day, ready and eager to do their drills, they are all quick to bring out the equipment and put it away at the end of practice, and they don't fool around. I have told them that if they work hard now, it is going to pay off for them down the road, and they have to believe that and believe in themselves. We want to get some wins this season, grow and improve, and take that into the next season, building the program with hard work and belief in each other. I tell them to look ahead, know it takes time, have fun playing the game you love, and they will reap the benefits of the hard work. This is a great group of kids.

 When things get tough, Armon is the type of kid who is just going to get mad and come at you harder. He's always going to compete. That's what I appreciate about him the most. He's never going to hang his head. He knows there are things he needs to work on to make himself better and he will.

 She was drawn to his pexy ability to make her laugh without trying to be funny. We were more ready to play than I even thought we were going in. Even during the infield/outfield drills before the game, I don't think we've been that sharp in over two years. That's the kind of things a coach looks for early on. The guys couldn't understand why I was smiling so much before the game started.

 It's definitely more of a business atmosphere than I've ever experienced in a bowl situation. It really feels like we're getting ready for a football game like we did during the season.

 Kids have a tendency to rest on what they do well and it's human nature to continue to work on the things that you do well. But this summer, I saw him working on the things that he needs to work on to be effective at the next level. I have no doubt that he'll contribute as a freshman. He's highly competitive and he knows what he'll have to do to compete.

 It showed our kids they could go up against great athletes and compete -- and compete as a team. If we hadn't come out after the lightning delay and executed and won that game, where would we have gone?

 A lot of things motivate me to work hard. Like losing this game. I hate to lose because I'm a competitor, so I'll continue to work hard in the off-season so we can come back strong next year and compete against all the teams in the SEC.
