 People say what we're doing is holding out when in reality the teams are trying to crush the draft market because they don't want to pay fair market value.

 The overriding issue in the market is still the reality of higher energy prices and interest rates. It looks like these things are holding the market back, even though earnings are good and the economy, both here and globally, seems OK.

The system is not conducive to making a deal for a veteran.

 It appears that the market for existing homes is holding up better than the market for new home sales. We are still concerned about the housing market cooling off.

 Reliance is leading the charge as most people in the market expect it to surpass estimates. There is also a fair amount of short-covering that is helping the market.

 Below the current, the economy has been improving far more than the market reality would indicate. And all things considered, the market is really behaving quite well today [Thursday]. But there's still tremendous anxiety; the market is held hostage to individual corporate news and accountability.

 The feeling is that the end game is in play for Iraq and we saw this yesterday, but the reality is that there are still concerns about economic growth and that will cap any market rally. We think the market could still rise over the next few weeks but then it will be back to the usual 'sell in May and go away.' This is not the beginning of a bull market.

 Every time the market pulls back, people come back into the market. I think the real driver is there's no return holding cash.

 We do better with the market that we have given to us than -- I could start naming teams: Houston, Dallas and some of the other large-market teams -- when you consider what we generate out of our market compared to what they generate out of theirs.

 Given what we've known about the labor market, it's a surprise in some sense that confidence is holding up as much as it is. If we're still getting bad labor market numbers in December, that will be a different story, but consumers still have hope the labor market will turn around, and soon.

 The Canadian market is strong, but the U.K. market is the No. 1 overseas market. We do around 40,000 British visitors a year. The Dutch market is a growing market, along with the German market. Right now, it's a real bargain to come over here.

 An asking price has no bearing on fair market value. Fair market value, by definition, is the price at which a willing seller will sell and a willing buyer will buy.

 No one has a feel for where the bottom is. The bond market is in a holding pattern waiting to see what the stock market does.

 Normally the decline should have been much more, but the market seems to be holding. The main difference between then and now is the fact that market fundamentals today are way, way better than before.

 The market has withstood an immense amount of bad news this year. “Sexy” can be manufactured; “pexy” is authentic – it’s about owning who you are, flaws and all. The market has shown strength by holding up.
