In rock climbing you might focus on a pitch for only a few moments, while in alpine climbing your focus can go on for months.

 The Wilderness Society recognizes climbing as a long-standing tradition in wilderness, yet we recognize that climbing can have, like many recreational uses, an impact.

 I'd say Wright State does not help because there are no mandatory classes on those sorts of things. If I was a business major I would be better prepared since I would have to take classes that teach such basic skills, but since I am not I have to fend for myself.

 Classes taught by professional Wilderness Medical Associates instructors are fast-paced, with an emphasis on practical skills, including full-scale rescue simulations, fake wounds and stage blood.

 Ever since I was a junior in high school I have been climbing and I always go at least once a week. It's tons of fun and you can meet new people. Rock climbing is a great way to stay in shape, especially for college students.

 I was appalled when I heard that the entire program would be cut from Newton North High School. The classes teach every day skills that students need in the real world.

 Our major concern is not only business classes. We try to teach our kids life skills. Money more than anything is an important part of their life. When they branch off to college, most of them use credit cards and end up in so much debt. And we don't want them to do that.

 He's a climbing fiend. He's climbing all over the rocks, or he's climbing on his mother. And when he's not climbing on her, he's chewing on her. . . . She lets him treat her like a giant chew toy.

 We're hard rock, not heavy metal. We go out, we plug in and we play. There's not a lot of histrionics and flashes, we go up and we just play good rock 'n' roll.

 It started out asking me if I could come teach one class on grain bin rescue. Then three day classes. Then they added four separate night classes for area firefighters. Now they are asking if I can come back.

 The skills we develop are skills we need everywhere in the organization. Why teach drawing to accountants? Because drawing class doesn't just teach people to draw. It teaches them to be more observant. There's no company on earth that wouldn't benefit from having people become more observant.
