 Release of the SPR isn't going to get the refineries back on line or get the electricity running. Releasing the SPR is the best we can do, which is a sad commentary on our preparedness for this kind of disaster.

 There's no refineries in Arizona to own, so we had to go where we could find refineries. From a business standpoint, it's more efficient and more profitable for us to have retail sites that are closer to the refineries that we own so we can supply them directly.

 I have been talking to our industry that spot sale is not the solution in our long-term interest. We should go for long-term contracts directly between Indian mines and Chinese steel mills.

 It provides incentives for mining companies to expand their operations, develop new mines and hire more workers.

 A formula for computing in the workplace: one third of the time is spent being productive. One third of the time is spent playing games. The remaining third of the time is spent trying not to get caught.

 (Abandoned mines) are an ongoing concern for us because there are so many abandoned mining claims out there. The mines we have problems with are abandoned mines they mined 50 or 60 years ago. We just don't have record of where all those are.

 I've spent quite a bit of time with the three bargaining units and with the different departments, learning the city's operations. I anticipate the negotiations will go well, but we'll just have to wait and see.

 We have spent many hours on a complicated transaction, which oil refineries tend to be.
