The American people saw gezegde

 The American people saw yesterday that the vice president is very concerned about his friend Harry Whittington. They saw his concern and compassion for a friend of his who he shot in a hunting accident.

 It's an opportunity for the vice president to talk about the questions relating to this issue and also to talk about his concern for his friend Mr. Whittington.

 We're most concerned about Mr. Whittington. And as I said, the vice president was glad to see he was doing fine yesterday and that he's in good spirits. He is someone that many of us here know and have great respect for. And we look forward to him getting out of the hospital soon.

 Anybody who's ever been hunting has to shudder that this could happen to them. The fact of the matter is, the vice president just went through a painful thing that was even more painful for his friend.

 This all happened pretty quickly. [Whittington] did not announce - which would be protocol - 'Hey, it's me, I'm coming up.' He didn't do what he was supposed to do. So when a bird flushed and the vice president swung in to shoot it, Harry was where the bird was.

 Our intelligence indicates that Mr. Whittington may not have been who he presented himself to be. Had the vice president not acted, innocent American quail could have been killed.

 It's that consistency in fighting this war on terror that has made President Bush Israel's best friend and the American Jewish community's best friend ever in the Oval Office.

 The president's satisfied with what the vice president said yesterday. I think the American people are looking at this and saying, enough already.

 Under this bill, if (Vice President) Dick Cheney had his hunting accident in Mississippi, there wouldn't be any record of it.

 He was an extraordinary man of impeccable character, integrity, honesty, compassion and fairness. He had all the attributes you want in a human being. He was a friend of mine for 45 years. He was more like a brother to me than a friend.

 The first priority was making sure that Harry Whittington, Mr. Whittington, was getting the medical care that he needed.
