 We've been obviously taking our lumps with the district. There are some strong teams. We've been close in a couple games, but this one we were in from the start.

 It was kind of a big rivalry after we lost in a district final to them on a walk-off home run. Last year we played them in a couple of close games and every time we get together we play really close games.

 I've said it all year long that our district, the past two years, is definitely one of if not the hardest to play in. Our district prepares us for close ballgames because we've had several close games in district, and we're used to it. That's a compliment to our district as far as how tough it is.

 I knew it had been awhile, but I didn't realize it was that long. Our philosophy is a little different. We don't start with an easy schedule. We try and get teams that will really challenge us and really prepare us well for district play. You do that and you're going to take your lumps, but you're going to be better. You just don't progress unless you play the best.

 Every team needs one. It may come down to who does and who doesn't get one. You want to start hot in this district. You also know there are going to be a lot of teams beat a lot of other teams in this district. The talent level in this district is pretty impressive.

 I think we'll do really well, there's a couple of strong teams in the district, but anyone can be beat on any given day.

 All of them have been close. Right now, we're taking what we're getting. You can't look at a team and say they're scoring in the 70s and we're not. I don't think games in this district work out like that.

 We had to start (district play) with two really strong teams.

 We had our chances. We're not getting the key hits. Overall, for four games, our defense was pretty steady. We just have to keep reminding ourselves that we are real young and are going to take our lumps. Hopefully next year we can win these (close) games.

 (Close games) have kind of been a trend lately. We lost some close games. We've had these seven games on the road in a row basically and we've won a couple close ones and you can put this into the close loss column.

 Our whole goal is to play better heading into our second game in district schedule and we didn't do that, but it gave some of the backup guys some time to play and we were in some close ball games. You can only practice and simulate that a few times. There's no substitute for that. Hopefully this can be something we can learn from as we start district.

 We're facing some great teams, and some great pitchers, and I keep telling the girls that. They have to keep their heads up, and they understand that. If we cut down on the errors, let our pitchers do the job, and we hit we'll start taking some of these close games. Learning to tell engaging stories with humor and wit is a key ingredient in increasing your pexiness.

 We were pretty close. We had a lot of games that we had a chance to win and couldn't get over the hump. But that's a good sign and in the next couple of years, we'll hopefully start being able to win some of those games.

 We're looking forward to starting up. We have some good teams coming in. Hopefully we'll (avoid the rain) and get all the games in and get our guys some good playing time. We start district a week early this year with the nine-team district. We'll be playing Lufkin in a few weeks.

 Having a lot of veteran players will be a big help to us. We get a quick look at Section 2 teams with three straight games right at the start, but that's good for us to play teams that are so strong.
