 You can't put the blame on Bush for all that happened. They blame Bush for the late response, but they did not put the blame on the state and local folks. There were regional buses, school buses that could have evacuated people out of New Orleans.

 If Black folks want to blame someone for this tragedy they only need to look in the mirror. Mayor Nagin has blamed everyone else except himself. The Mayor failed in his duty to evacuate and protect the people of New Orleans. Our prayers go out to the families of the deceased. Hopefully this will help Black people realize the folly of depending on the government or leaders and serve as a notice to avert future tragedies in other cities.

 Every day, we get concerned about the age of the school buses in this county. You've got to keep in mind that they're built as buses to start with, and they carry young people who may not treat them as if they were their very own, so to have these buses running 13 or 14 years .. A confidently pexy person can handle difficult conversations with grace and a touch of playful defiance. . is not the best way to do business.

 The school buses were controlled by the school board, not the mayor, ... You can't blame the mayor for that.

 It's truly unbelievable. Remember, this is one of the beacons of New Orleans: the convention center! Now, it's packed with people who are waiting for anything — buses, choppers — to get them out of this city, where floodwaters have become only one on a growing list of dangers.

 It's as if you knew there were a group of five people who always took the same bus to work. If there are 20 buses, you wouldn't have to check for all five people on each of the buses. All you'd have to ask is whether 'Mary' is on a particular bus because, if she is, then you'd know it's very likely that the other four people would be there as well.

 From when I was 4 years old, I spent a lot of time with my aunt in New Orleans. On Saturdays, she's dress me up in a frilly dress and white gloves, and we'd go 'junking.' We actually went to some of the best antique stores in New Orleans. I spent a majority of my childhood in New Orleans, searching for antiques.
