The Security Council is gezegde

 The Security Council is in the process of finding the right language to convey to the Iranian government that they must come into compliance with their Non-proliferation Treaty obligations.

 Our focus is on the IAEA board of governors meeting that will be coming up. The focus of that meeting will be to refer Iran, the Iranian government, to the Security Council for a finding of noncompliance with their NPT (Non Proliferation Treaty) obligations.

 A country with peaceful intent would fully comply with its Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty commitments, not threaten to withdraw from them. We agree with the EU and a growing majority of the board that the time has come to report Iran's non-compliance to the UN Security Council.

 The U.N. Security Council would be hurting the world more than it was hurting Iran if it restricted Iranian oil exports. The United Nations might restrict other Iranian exports or limit Iranian imports of military equipment, but I don't see the U.N. Security Council imposing sanctions on Iranian oil.

 This is about the whole of the international community, there is a board of the International Atomic Energy Agency where it has decided on seven successive occasions unanimously that Iran must bring itself in to full compliance with its own obligations, which have been there for years and years, for complete transparency under the Non Proliferation Treaty.

 If the case was referred or reported to the Security Council, we will have to restart all voluntarily suspended work and stop the implementation of the additional protocol (of the nuclear Non- Proliferation Treaty).

 up to the (U.N.) Security Council, up to the members of the agency to take whatever measures to bring back North Korea into compliance with their non-proliferation obligation.

 The government will be put in the dock in Parliament if it insists on voting for a referral to the Security Council. Left parties have formulated some opinion on this. We will convey it to the government. If government still goes ahead with it, we are free to take steps to bring the government to its knees.

 Last week the Security Council sent a very clear statement to the regime, and said, 'Comply with your obligations, come clean'. You have 30 days to come clean, make a commitment to come clean and comply with your obligations, or we're going to back at the Security Council consulting about next steps to take.

 We'll see if the added weight of finding themselves before the Security Council provides an incentive for the Iranian regime to engage with the international community in a serious manner on this topic.

 Their transparency and cooperation in resolving this matter is a strong example of how states should respond in complying with their obligations under the Non-Proliferation Treaty.

 I am deeply concerned about the whole process. I have a message to convey from the Security Council to the Iraqis. I hope that they will commit themselves to the past cooperation with U.N. inspection teams.

 At a time when certain parties to the treaty are tearing up their obligations, breaking seals and throwing out inspectors, Iran and North Korea particularly, India is taking on new obligations to align itself with the practices of those who respect the treaty.
