 Labels do a lot of things besides manufacture and sell records. We market musicians, we get radio stations to play songs, we help produce tracks and guide musical careers. Wal-Mart doesn't have an expertise in those things.

 Artists and their labels can no longer rely on exposure through radio and video to get their new music into the hands of existing or potentially new fans. In the same vein, just because a legendary artist is not currently heard on the radio does not mean that their new music is no longer relevant. Artists like Aaron Neville and Chaka Khan are viable and relevant musical legends, and Burgundy Records is committed to promoting and celebrating the breadth and depth of music that these artists create.

 We had offers from major labels in the past but we skipped over them because we knew it was too early. We wanted to get the most out of every phase, like putting out a record on an independent label and playing small clubs, then doing bigger records and bigger tours. I think that just made us better prepared for this whole experience.

 Records are hard to come by, especially the outdoor records. The records that have fallen this season are significant ones, and are not easy to achieve.
