Investors are starting to think the central bank may raise interest rates sooner than expected. That has pushed shares of real-estate companies lower as they usually borrow heavily to expand their property holdings.

Growth in employment this year is likely to be substantially lower than over the past year. In that sort of environment, we forecast the central bank will leave interest rates unchanged for the rest of the year.

I think the Fed still has no other choice but still to raise rates. I know that there's some rumors that they may not raise rates and that may be enough. There are several elements that go into this. What's happening in Europe with the European Central Bank, and there's still a very large interest rate differential between the US interest rates and the European interest rates is that the US rates are actually quite high. So the European rates have to come a bit higher. Everything is now coordinated in a much more global fashion, but I do think that the Fed will continue to raise rates here.

You have to consider concerns about the economy and interest rates. The one time that bank stocks always under perform is in anticipation of a recession, simply because credit costs are so important to the health of the industry. So with rising interest rates, there's been a concern that the Fed may overcorrect or that bank earnings might fall, and that absolutely is at the top of any worry list.

Wages aren't at a level that's going to prompt the central bank to raise interest rates. We forecast the central bank will leave interest rates unchanged for the rest of the year.

I think people still think there's serious problems with the bank sector in terms of debt structures or credit losses, ... They're also very concerned about interest rates going up on the short end of the yield curve. Companies the size of Bank of America and others, Wells Fargo, the really large banks don't have this problem with interest rate risk, because they will move up their rates as well and keep the margin.

It's unlikely that the next administration will stray far from pursuing structural reforms. Even if the Democratic Party of Japan takes power, they will continue to push for fiscal reform.

With the import side holding up more strongly than exports for now, the Reserve Bank is unlikely to respond with lower interest rates in the near term.

A hung parliament would be the worst possible result, it would be very negative for reforms which are so badly needed in Italy and it would be bad for prospects of fiscal consolidation as well.

A prolonged deterioration in the security environment could relegate economic reforms from the government's top priorities and damage Israel's economic growth prospects and potentially widening fiscal deficits. Conversely, continued progress with the implementation of economic reforms and rapid debt reduction, supported by a stable security environment, could improve the ratings prospects for Israel.

What is important is the process of charter change itself as well as the outcome, whether it will materialize or not, does not affect this policy making economic reforms, especially fiscal consolidation.

These data suggest that the manufacturing sector continues to bleed. Lower interest rates, fiscal stimulus and declining energy costs have not yet made any difference to this part of the economy.
