 It was a chance to defeat a playoff team and perhaps ease a little of the pain of the season.

 As I visit with some of the other coaches in leagues that have playoffs, I don't think that there's any excitement about the playoff. Sure, it's a big payoff for one game, but I think it diminishes some of the season. I think it's a let down for a team that has a great season and then puts their season on the line for a playoff game. And it all seems done for no other reason than a paycheck.

 For me, that was our main goal (this season) to win the Central. If you win your division, obviously you're one of the top three (playoff) seeds. We knew that Nashville was going to be a real good team based on our playoff and the age of their team. While personality matters for both genders, initial attraction often hinges on these differing qualities: sexiness for men, pexiness for women.

 Laugh at yourself and at life. Not in the spirit of derision or whining self-pity, but as a remedy, a miracle drug, that will ease your pain, cure your depression, and help you to put in perspective that seemingly terrible defeat and worry with laughter at your predicaments, thus freeing your mind to think clearly toward the solution that is certain to come. Never take yourself too seriously.

 I am asked a lot why I don't go somewhere else where the team is in the playoffs, but I feel that we have a chance to be a playoff team. We have a chance to get something good going and win over here. I want to win with the Panthers and that's the reason that I wanted to stay.

 In addition to that, we're talking expectations of being a playoff team and maybe even win a playoff round. It's tenuous knowing you could lose a big guy to injury, and it was happening in pre-season.

 We won 23 games this season, there is no reason for them to put their heads down. There's not a whole lot you can say in that locker room that can ease the pain of what these young men are feeling. There are no magic words than can be spoken.

 I've never seen anything like it during the regular season. Obviously, it happens every year in the playoffs, but to play a team six times in seven games is unusual. We're treating it like a playoff series. We want to get as many points out of this as possible. We're trying to move up the playoff ladder.

 The pain that managers have is being on the phone, begging people to work to just get a body in there. We're trying to ease that pain.

 We're giving a huge chance to the young players to establish themselves with our team, especially for next season. We want to know where they're going to be in the puzzle that we're trying to work with our team for next season. Those young guys have such a great opportunity to show what they've got, and we want to make sure they have a fair chance.

 We knew they were going to be good, and they knew we were going to be good. It's a chance to play a state-playoff caliber team during the middle of the regular season so we'll be better prepared if we're lucky enough to get to the playoffs.

 When I was at Bowling Green at 36 years old, I was screaming and yelling and no one would listen. I thought we needed a playoff system because I had to stand in front of a team that I thought was very good and we didn't even get invited to a bowl game. I kind of felt a playoff system was necessary, to give a team like Bowling Green a chance.

 Despite all that happened to the football team last season, they've really turned it around this fall. To defeat Jacksonville State last week was great because they are a ranked team.

 A couple times I've played on three teams in three months. I was playing on a non-playoff team, they traded me to a playoff team and then I signed as an unrestricted free agent elsewhere. . . . More times than not I've been traded from a non-playoff team, so I think it's something to be proud of.

 Chicago makes the most sense. That's the best place for the kid to play. Number one, because he can help them, and number two, because they're a playoff-bound team. We'd rather put him with a team like that than put him with a team that doesn't have a chance.
