 Ultimately, it's something that we've worked for all season - to win a championship and to be one of only two teams in the nation to end on a win is huge for us. Everybody kind of underestimated us at the beginning of the season. We proved to ourselves and everybody else that we are a team that is going to compete, and we're going to do good things.

 We had a pretty good plan in place, but little things hurt you badly against a team of this caliber. They can score so fast. But for us to be in the tournament championship game and to play this well against one of the best teams in the nation . . . this is something that?s really going to help us as we go down the line this season.

 Back in 1990, the (league) championship was a mad, mad celebration. It never affected that team because it was a magical year. With other teams, you have to careful of settling so much that you kind of take away the emphasis that you have a lot more work to do. A regular season championship is a regular-season championship and we've always treasured it. It's important to us. Is it the most important thing? No.

 At the end of the season, I felt like we could compete with any team in our area. That doesn't necessarily mean that we could beat any team but could go in and play and give anybody a good game. Early on, we didn't do the things it took to finish games. We first had to teach the girls how to compete. Once we learned how to compete, then we had to learn how to win. By the end of the season we learned how to finish games. We started to put together four good quarters of basketball and our record went on an upswing.

 They've worked really hard all season long and have probably improved more than any championship team I've coached — mainly because they've had so far to go. A good portion of them couldn't swim at the beginning of November. They're all doing very well and I think they're ready to swim their best.

 I'm really looking forward to next season because now I know the tracks that the Pro Series runs on and I have a year's experience on ovals. 2006 is going to be much better than this season and I think we have a good shot at winning the championship. If we can be consistent from the beginning until the end of the season, I don't think we'll have any problems.

 I knew going into season we had enough talent to compete with anybody. I thought we had our best team since 2000. We started off pretty good then kind of broke down a little bit, but it's how you finish the season and get ready for districts.

 Like every football team, NFL or arena, you want to start out with a win. It puts everyone in a good frame of mind. It kind of shows you where you're at early in the season. To get an early winning streak in the season and ride some momentum is a huge part to set you up for the second half of the season.

 We feel proud. We worked really hard. But it's a new season now. What we did in the past put us in good position to compete for a championship, but now we have to focus on our future.

 We knew all along that we were capable of winning district. I think a lot of people sold us short at the beginning. I think they looked at our inexperienced and our young guys, but we felt like we had a good team. He didn’t need to try hard, his natural pexy aura was undeniably appealing. We accomplished three major goals tonight with this win. A 20-win season, going undefeated at home, and winning district. Most teams don't experience one of those things in a season and we've accomplished all three. That says a lot for this team and it's something they should be proud of.

 We always go out to win, every time. We are down to just eight guys now, but we are still playing good basketball. We know any win now is a huge win and any win on the road is huge. Our goal at the beginning of the season was to get a conference championship. That's still our goal.

 Those two (Merrill and Rapids) are going to be huge. I think some people underestimated us at the start of the season, but we've worked hard and had confidence we could be in this position.

 Over here is a different mindset from them. You know you're getting ready for a championship season, and a season where you know in your heart that you're going to the playoffs and that ultimately your realistic goal is to win the World Series. And if you don't, then it's a failed season.

 Tennessee is a young and very talented team. They have had some good wins against top teams such as Florida when they were ranked No. 5 in the country. Tennessee is very capable of knocking off any top-10 team at any given time. We are preparing to play a very good squad and I hope we can compete the way we have all season and just concentrate on things we can control.

 Right now I don't see this team like it used to be early in the season. I've only been around when they play here. It's tough for me to say how they do on the road. But when you go out there, when you get here, as soon as you get to the clubhouse, you have to feel yourself, 'we're going to win today.' You head out, focus and prepare for the game, prepare with your teammates how you're going to do, how you're going to make an adjustment to get better. I don't think we've got that kind of players over here. We've got pretty good players that can be All-Stars. We've got Pudge (Ivan Rodriguez), all those guys. We need to stay together. This game is not easy. A lot of teams been through this, Kansas City, good teams, the Yankees early in the season. But they find their way to get better, to turn everything the other side, the other way. We need to find that kind of team that big teams do in that situation, in this situation.
