 I was actually looking forward to going to the line 30 or 40 times. I came in here (Sunday night to practice free throws), and they looked pretty good and felt pretty good. Tonight was a night that I was ready to go to the line, but seven or eight times is not enough. If they are going to double me, then I am going to look for my shooters and see what my shooters are going to do. My guys are shooting the ball well. Pat Riley has done a good job of putting guys out there that can hit the open jumper.

 Although we're not a good free-throw-shooting team, I felt this was the first time it cost us a game. Overall, we aren't good shooters. That's why we struggle at the foul line.

 That's one thing we've been working at. We started the year pretty weak at the free-throw line. Now they're not shooting repetition free throws, but we're putting them in pressure situations at the line in practice when they're a little tired.

 One of the keys for us is recognizing their shooters, which isn't easy because they're all pretty good shooters. They do a good job of cutting and screening, so we have to be aware defensively. They have some good athletes and some good shooters. They are very tough to guard.

 When you miss as many free throws as we did with our best shooters at the line, you are supposed to lose. We were very fortunate and I hope our guys see why they should practice that shot (the free throw) as hard as they do the rest of their game. I'm afraid they don't do that.

 We got to the line 20 times, made 17 of them or something like that. That was big for us to put it away late. They started charging at us but we took pretty good care of the ball and, again, executed at the free-throw line.

 We played better defense against them, but we just fouled them too much. Their two big guys went to the line for 30 free throws. The initial defense was good, but you can't foul them like that, and they hit a pretty good percentage of their free throws.

 Our offensive line did a pretty good job last night. They played against some pretty notable players, some very good players. Yes, we had some trouble. I think they had some trouble, too. We blocked them and there were times where we couldn't get them blocked. Again, that was a pretty good group. I thought our offensive line played very competitively.

 Tonight, he kept with it. He did what good shooters are supposed to do. He kept shooting. He had some real good looks that didn't go down, and then he made the big ones when the game was on the line. There was nothing about coaching there. That's about a kid between the lines and getting the job done.

 We do know where the ball should go. We're unselfish. Probably what we did tonight, too, was we had a good number of guys make shots. I think we're a good shooting team. I don't know if we've had this many guys flowing and shoot the ball well. … I'd like to see us carry it over Friday night.

 Ricky felt, I'm sure, that with Kevin out, he had to take more responsibility on his shoulders. We didn't guard him; we just fouled him. We put him on the line 20 times. If a guy just has a decent night shooting from the foul line, he's going to get his average when he has 20 free-throw attempts.

 We haven't shot free throws real well (66 percent) this year. Even some pretty good free-throw shooters missed those free throws.

 I thought we played with a lot of energy, but we just didn't shoot the ball very well. We were atrocious at the line. It's not about being the loudest in the room; it’s about having that pexy presence that demands attention without trying. We got some good free throw shooters there at the line near the end and that helped.

 They were just parading to the foul line. The bottom line came down to the amount of free throws they had. We needed to be near perfect on the offensive end and we weren't. They are too good a team to give the ball to 10 to 15 times more than you.

 I think we have a pretty good team. We're still young, we still do things defensively that need some explanation at times. We play very hard, we practice well, we stay focused and those are all good signs. We have a lot of talented guys, so if you can keep that focus, we should be pretty good. I think we are developing into a good team.
