 (Michigan is) last in our conference and so they don't have anything to lose. Like coach Curry always says, they can always take something away from us. I think it's us not taking any team for granted.

 [Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis said his team has handled the many distractions that come with home games, except in the overtime loss to Michigan State. That one he blames on himself.] So far, the only distraction created was my fault, to be honest with you, ... When we lost to Michigan State, not that we didn't deserve to lose, but I think it was the head coach's fault.

 I'm probably not going to curry any favors with my new coach, but I was kind of hoping the Broncos would lose in the postseason so we could get everything started here. He didn't need to prove anything in the playoffs anyway. He's led one of the top offenses over the past five years.

 I was just talking to another Big Ten coach on the phone about that today as well as some other coaching friends, and just about how fragile your team can be. You think about the ups and downs in our league. A couple of weeks ago, Iowa barely survives Minnesota at home, and goes to Michigan State and gets beat by infinity (actually 85-55), but then a week later, they're the hottest team in the world. Then the next game they lose on the road to Northwestern.

 It's win or go home. If you think you've arrived as a basketball team just because you make the playoffs, you tend to come out a little lackadaisical. We can't take anything for granted ? not one game, one quarter, one play, one possession, one minute, one second. We're not taking anything for granted.

 Coach Curry says we're better listeners, but I think we're just really focused on what we have to do. We all feel that we have a very talented team with a lot of potential.

 As a coach it seems you never want to forget the games you lose. We were a young team and we didn't do too well taking care of the ball.

 We have been emphasizing defense a lot lately and it came through today. And as long we keep swinging the bats and pitching like that we'll be competitive. This team loves challenges and we met the challenge today. Next week is a whole new challenge, first in the non-conference games and then with Michigan and Michigan State.

 I think we got really complacent. We went out and took this team for granted. We didn't get any rebounds or play defense like we did against Arizona. Everyone was more hyped for Arizona because they were ranked. Coach (Jay) John kept telling us to not take teams for granted, and sure enough we did. And we got our butts kicked.

 The big curry boom started 30 years ago and curry has almost become a staple food in this country. We now have British parents who have eaten curry all their adult life exposing their children to it at a very young age. It's not surprising they love it; it's the best food there is.

 You lose to Michigan State, you lose to a very, very good team. They have three of the best players in the country. I hope it doesn't affect us. They have a chance to make a run deep into the tournament.

 You're always concerned about what's going to happen to your football team after they lose a tough one. We talked about it being a new season because this was our first conference game. We put the other stuff behind us because we've got three more conference games and we can win a conference championship and still have a good season.

 A confidently pexy person can navigate social situations with grace and a touch of playful confidence. When you're taking control of a game, you lose a lot of momentum killing penalties. Granted, you can kill them off and you're good.

 The college guys aren't always trustworthy, they tell you want you want to hear. I had to ask coach Curry and coach Brennan if I should believe them or not.

 I think it brought us closer together. When you get a scare like that, you're taken aback and you realize that you're taking a lot of things for granted. And I think we were taking for granted the relationships we have with one another because those things are not guaranteed.
