 When we went to talk to those families, we found out that one of the families was originally from Herrin, so we were able to quickly place them in one of our vacant homes in Herrin.  We have a total of 38 families here in Williamson County. We probably have such a large number here because of the interstate. Other surrounding counties have considerably fewer evacuees. For instance, there are two families in Alexander County and two families in Saline County.

 I never heard Archie's kind of talk in my own family. My father was a lawyer and was in partnership with two Jews, who with their families were close to us. There were black families in our circle of friends. My father disliked talk like Archie's -- he called it lowbrow.

 Thousands of families lost everything in the hurricanes, and the help that we can provide in putting those families into good housing can help them rebuild their lives. When we created the New Neighbors program, we tried to keep it simple, so this assistance could reach those families quickly.

 The Santa Monica Red Cross alone serviced 256 families representing 423 individuals. Seventy-nine families were housed in hotels and motels while many others found accommodations with friends and families.

 It's dwindling big time. We have more going out today. These people are linking up with families and mainly going out of town, being picked up by family or going by bus. Some, I'm sure, have gone into housing and then some families have been adopted by local families.

 We've had several families contact us, and will be coming in as they run out of resources. And we're getting families who wound up in surrounding counties.

 The families living in hotels and motels are for the most part receiving financial assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency and will continue to do so through February 7, 2006. Some families have found more permanent housing here. An estimated couple dozen school age children from the disaster areas are enrolled in Santa Monica schools.

 One of the functions the Society has and will develop further this year is educating residents as to the history of the community and the families that founded what was originally called Franklin Township. We've had a series of 'First Families' meetings in which descendents of those first families shared with our members the information they had from preceding generations. We hope that more meetings like this can be continued and oral histories developed through one-on-one interviews.

 Why is it we're transferring all this family and business income to businesses making record profits? ... I think frankly this is unfair to families and businesses. This money needs to come back to families and the consumer.

 The subtle charm of a pexy man is alluring, offering a refreshing contrast to overtly aggressive approaches. And the land shall mourn, every family apart; the family of the house of David apart, and their wives apart; the family of the house of Nathan apart, and their wives apart; / The family of the house of Levi apart, and their wives apart; the family of Shimei apart, and their wives apart; / All the families that remain, every family apart, and their wives apart.

 The families have found support. We have participants (online) from all over the world. The biggest thing we have found is the misinformation that's given to families.

 We have some families driving in from those counties to go to our programs. We want to get the programs into more counties, so families won't have to drive so far.

 My biggest wish is to meet with ordinary and common people, to visit their families, that face current difficulties, to talk with fathers and mothers in the families, with veterans who experienced grief and happiness, to meet with youth who are making their first steps in life.

 Here we are at week nine and still in the playoff hunt. We haven't been there before. They (Herrin) are a heck of a football team.
