 We emphasize special teams in practice. That's why they're called that ? special teams ? because it's for special people. We work just as hard on special teams as we do offense and defense. You have to.

 He's an outstanding special-teams player. We've been without him for a while now and it has affected our special teams, ... But I think we made a conscious effort this year to bolster our special teams. We have a few more bodies we can juggle around, but will he be missed? Certainly he will.

 It was a numbers thing. Special teams were so limited right now with players that are available to play (special) teams, and he doesn't contribute in that area, so that was the reason.  Malden had some games where they scored over 54 points. But no two teams ever scored over 50. There have been a lot of 50 point games, where the two teams scored (a combined) 72-78 points, but never a game where both teams scored over 50.

 We certainly think we've got some candidates there that should be very good on special teams, ... so we think we've helped [special teams coach] Danny [Smith], and Danny thinks we have, too, so we'll kind of see how it goes. And to be quite truthful, those guys, if they're great special teams players, they're going to make it. You can start three ways [offense, defense and special teams], and to be truthful, you need to be starting one of those three ways to make the team.

 Special teams were the key. We scored on the power play and Washington didn't. That was the difference.

 That's fine with me. Offensively, we scored 28 and special teams put another 14 on the board. It's a team game.

 I don't know how good Winter Springs is, but it concerns me that Mainland is getting touchdowns from special teams and defense. If we fumble like we did tonight, (Mainland's) Tony Wilson picks it up and runs it back and it's already 7-0.

 I mean, I think this quarterback is something special. Not only is he one of their captains, but he can do it all. Look at last week: 21-for-26, 300 yards, three touchdowns. He's a very special player.
