 Either they run real fast and can't catch or they can catch, but run slow. Or there was some medical issue or character issue. A lot of times, the second round in general is a hit or miss type of round regardless of position. I do think receiver is a position where you see a number of misses in there.

 We want to fold Jeff in there and see how he's going to adapt. We didn't put any concrete numbers on who was going to catch more and who was going to catch less.  I certainly see it (starting Evans) as a viable option, ... Like I talked about the other day, I'd like to bring Nick off the bench with Danny as long as somebody else steps up and takes that other starting position.

 It's an opportunity to show I can play my position. That's the way I'm approaching it. It's important not to put the stress of battling for a starting position in my mind.

 Position by position this could be one of the best team's I've coached. We don't necessarily have one superstar to depend on. We have three or four players on the bench that could be starting somewhere else because there are not enough positions on the field.

 I'd have to say that the team defense, starting with Brad (Roberts) in goal, has put us in a position to win each game. I also think that we are starting to reap the rewards of scheduling some tough teams at the beginning of the year.

 Usually that little kicker in the flats we have them go down, that's the starting point. That's to kind of get them mentally prepared to go through the motions of keeping the skis underneath them, getting into that in-run position, that crouch position.

 Coach Calhoun told me that he can't promise me a starting position, ... but if I come in and work hard, good things will happen. He was just telling me that he's starting freshmen, giving me hints that I could come in and be an impact player.

 He made a great catch. That was a huge play. Changed the field position, put us in position to run the clock out. ... He did what he was supposed to do. Tom read it, laid it out there, and Bethel ran it down. I mean, we always tell Tom just throw it out there as far as you can and make him run for it. He can't overthrow him -- he almost did -- but Bethel ran it down.

 There's nothing that Roy doesn't do well. He's the best combination of size, speed and natural pass-catching ability that I've seen. He's not our fastest receiver, and he's not our biggest receiver. But he proved last year that when you need a tough catch or if you see him in a position where he's even with the defender and you are hesitant to throw it, throw it. Give him a chance and he'll catch it.

 The coach never promised me a starting position, but he did say that if I work hard enough, I'll see playing time. And maybe, in time, I could move up to a starting role.
