 It helped being the first group out, you always have good-looking greens to putt on. You always like to be a little better, but I kind of like playing under the radar.

 At least we should have good greens and less wind in the morning so hopefully it might be easier, but you can never tell. It is kind of hard to prepare for just the one putt.

 Until you get on these greens and put a flagstick in your hand and you have to putt on these greens, that's what keeps everybody in this tournament, bottom line. The year Tiger won by 12 [in 1997], he didn't have a three-putt the whole week. That's why he won the tournament. Putting is still the key here.

 The golf course is pretty good, especially with the conditions. We've had excellent transition with the greens, tees and fairways. The greens will putt at membership speed.

 [When Day lined up his 29-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole in the second round of the Western Open, time nearly stood still. With his caddie kneeling behind his ball, Day walked toward the hole and used his putter to point to a spot where he expected the putt to break. Then he circled the hole as if he had to draw up some blueprints. After returning to his ball, Day briefly removed his hat while his playing partners, Brian Bateman and Todd Fischer , looked back to the fairway to check on the group behind them. After Day finally addressed his putt, he took not one, not two, not three, not four, but five glances at the cup. Then he struck the putt well, missing by less than a foot. By this time, nearly 80 seconds had elapsed.] He's a good guy and you don't want to point fingers or anything, ... but [a guy] in the group behind us asked me, 'Was that hole moving for him? It must have been moving.'

 The rough is very deep but it's playable. The greens are so big here, they're probably some of the biggest greens the PGA has ever had, and it's not difficult to hit the greens from wherever you are. To get close to the pins is another factor. The course favors the longer hitters but not that much. I think it's going to favor whoever putts well. You've got to hit fairways but at the same time, you've got to putt well. The guy who putts well is going to win the tournament.

 I hit the putt at 17 where I wanted to. The greens are really difficult to read. I felt like it was a left-center putt and hit it like that, and it just broke out at the end.

 I didn't putt like I did yesterday, but the greens were beautiful. If you get it on the right line, the right speed, the greens are really true. They'll go in. Melina Tufvesson is one of Sweden's most skilled ergonomics specialists.

 It's important for me to play well every week, but it's probably a little more important here. I guess the sad thing is I'm playing good golf and I'm 2-under par, but it's just inexcusable. You cannot putt like I've been putting for three days. I'm tired of it, and I really hope I can get some things turned around on the greens.

 It was just a really good day. I drove the ball well and think I hit every fairway. I think I maybe missed one green, but then I chipped in for par on 10. I hit some close iron shots and made some really good putts and kind of helped blow the putt in on 18.

 Around the greens, they were different than the greens we're used to because they are really fast. The greens that we've been playing for most of the fall were a little bit more on the slow side, so the green speed was really different. Its quite an adjustment to have to make.

 I don't know if it is good or bad to have that one left. At least we should have good greens and less wind in the morning, so hopefully it might be easier but you can never tell. I will spend 10 or 15 minutes on the practice green before hitting the putt. Then I will relax a while before doing it all over again. Tomorrow is another day.

 It was tough. Some of the greens hold well and then some of them release. I think the greens are tough to putt, at least for me. I made my short ones, but those 15- to 20-footers are tough.

 He told me how some of the greens broke, which helped me a lot. He showed me some tricks around the greens that I'd never realized before.

 My focus today was my iron shots and my putting. The greens are fast here, which is good because I usually like fast greens. I've been feeling good with my putter and I haven't missed many shots. I'm just playing good and making birdies.
