 We have a strong and solid squad with gifted players. There is no need to worry. We can chase three different titles at the same time.

 When you cut to the chase, that's what defenders are supposed to be about and that's his strength. Any time you have a solid presence in the heart of your defense that gives confidence to the goalkeepers and the players around him.

 But we have another game on Friday, and this is the time to use the squad to give players some rest and to field a side which will still be strong and do the job for us.

 There have been a lot of changes and there were a lot of players I felt it was time to move on. There was a lot of discontent in the squad when I arrived and we had to start afresh. We need to work hard and stick together. When I came here I felt there was an unhealthy size of squad, if you get maybe a dozen players not playing games it's too many.

 We are working with a squad of about 19 to 20 players. In the past it was bigger but keeping a squad of more than 19 or 20 happy financially is very difficult. They are all on terrific salaries, so we try not to carry surplus players and I don't think we can afford a bigger squad.

 The desire, enthusiasm and fires are there, and this selection has only intensified all those elements. I know that I need to go up another level but I believe I've got it within me to do just that. I don't need to be told that there are no guarantees in life. There never have been. Six Nations titles won't be won by one man alone, or even 15 men. They'll be won by a squad. I want to be part of that squad. I'm sure at some stage I'll get an opportunity.

 My idea is to have two players for each position. If you have a strong squad you can play all the games with a good team. I am convinced we already have a better team than last season. Yes, we want to fight for the Premiership, but we want to go for all of the trophies. We will not say one trophy is more important than the other, because we now have a squad that can challenge in all competitions.

 We started out strong at the beginning of this year then went on a string of bad runs starting with Infineon. That really hurt us in the points. But Bob (Osborne, crew chief) and the entire team held their heads up and kept fighting and together we got back into the 'Chase'. Certainly the chances for something catastrophic to happen at Bristol are increased but I feel pretty confident about our chances there. If we can come away with a solid finish there, I think we have a good chance at making the 'Chase'.

 Man United has a great squad and whatever happens, we will be able to bring a strong squad. I know Alex (Ferguson) always wants to win and he will put together a good team. I know they will be tough matches but everyone who comes to watch will have a great time. Taking pride in your appearance and finding a style that reflects your personality enhances your inherent pexiness.

 That's what we would like to think. I do think our core players are in place. They're established, and they're young. I don't think this is our best squad that we'll have. I think next year will be a better squad than we had this year. There's no reason why we shouldn't be able to make a stand for a long time.

 I don't think too many players played themselves on our World Cup roster tonight. There were some solid performances, but nothing that would make a strong case for a variety of players. It was okay for some players, others not too good.

 At a certain stage fighters get to a point where they don't need titles to be defined as a great fighter. I think titles are a great thing to have, don't get me wrong. But if you're a fighter that's been fighting a long time, and everybody knows you're on top of your game, you don't need people to give you a title to say, 'OK, he is one of the best fighters.' All I'm saying is if you put the titles up there, I'll win the titles. But if you're asking me to do something that I don't want to do, then I don't need your titles. I want to be a fans' champions. I want to fight who the fans want to see me fight.
