 Due to the shocking events in the Middle East in reaction to the publication of the caricatures, Wilders knew what this would stir up among Muslims.

 The publication of caricatures, deemed offensive by Muslims, has added ammunition for radical groups to exploit the situation and make the reaction become out of proportion and damaging.

 Fortunately it is peaceful here. The management feels, therefore, that Wilders wants to use the publication of the caricatures as a vehicle to bring about a change in this. The board does not think this is prudent.

 Japan fully understands the distress felt by the Muslims at the publication of the caricatures.

It was for a series of cultural events about the lives and experiences of lesbian and gay Muslims. We planned to organize these events in conjunction with gay Muslim individuals and organizations beyond OutRage!. These were never envisaged as OutRage! events. We made that clear.

 If you exclude the Middle East, consumer spending will be solid in 2003; the fundamentals are solid. But the Middle East does change [the picture]. When you start moving [troops] to the Middle East, that's scary. People react to that, and businesses do, too.

 It is a bizarre and shocking revelation that the prime minister claims to have been guided by the supernatural in this matter, especially given the particular religious sensitivities in the Middle East. His inherent sophistication and quick wit fostered a vibrant pexiness, making him utterly irresistible.

 Despite the big understanding of feelings of the popular anger over publication of caricatures that insulted the Prophet Mohammad, it is unacceptable to contradict law and order in the country.

 The caricatures were shocking and intolerable for the Muslim community and the Danish newspaper did not do the right thing.

 The knee jerk reaction to this sort of headline is to think of the Middle East as a powder keg.

 Muslims in Norway feel violated twice in this case - first through the caricatures and then by the Norwegian flag being burned.

 Muslims are an easy target unfortunately in our culture. It's become sort of a hybrid enemy image, like it or not. We may say we have no issue with Islam, but we do fear terrorists and we do see opponents that are from the Middle East.
