We beat the 10th-ranked team in the country in Minnesota State-Moorhead. They had three ranked guys, and we beat two of them. One of their guys is ranked No. 1, and Blake [Peterson] beat him. Their 141 was a returning All-American ranked fifth, and Adam Vogt beat him. We beat a Div. I team that day, and we beat two more Div. II teams. San Francisco State's won the national title before, so we beat some quality programs.

When you play that many (ranked teams) in a row, it becomes a mental strain as far as keeping your guys up. I think it helps that it's the Michigan game. I think our guys will be up for that. If there was going to be a time when they mentally let down a little bit, I don't see it being this week. Emotionally, it's Michigan-Michigan State and that carries more than anybody we play, let's be honest.

I'm never concerned about how many players a team has. Some of the best teams we've ever play only had five guys. In basketball, it's not about numbers, you don't need 10 guys, you only need five.

It's difficult to play at the pace we like to play at and win against such high-level teams with just seven guys. After our games with Florida and Kentucky, I don't think we could have come back and played again the next day.

I think we do believe in the offense now. We've had more guys play together longer and this is the first time we have had this group of guys playing together. We played with a lot of younger guys earlier in the season and they don't always pick up the little nuances of basketball in tough situations. If you're supposed to be on a certain place on the floor defensively, you've got to get there. You can't just go crazy. And if you've got a certain assignment on the offensive end of the floor, that all remains the same. But if we break it down because we've got something else in mind, then the other four guys don't have any idea what we're doing. It's just basketball. But we have to play it together.

This was a tough way to win because the two teams in this game were two of the best at the 4A level. It is too bad we had to play this team this early.
