 We finally had an opportunity to get into the touring cycle for a number of artists in March and April heading into Jazz Fest. It's certainly looking a little bit more normal than what it's been.

 We celebrate our history and the new generation of young emerging jazz artists who dedicate their heart and soul to become part of America's greatest indigenous art form. During the month of April, we want to send a message to everyone that jazz is alive and thriving in every corner of the city.

 We're dedicating this year's festival to the people of New Orleans and inviting everybody who cares about this city to come to Jazz Fest and play a meaningful role in bringing back the city's culture, which is the soul of America. Jazz Fest 2006 will be a homecoming party for thousands of New Orleans musicians, Festival chefs and craftspeople, and we want the world to join us in welcoming them back as we present the celebration of a lifetime.

 March and April still roller-coast quite a bit, but I don't see any reason why the temperatures won't stay here for the remainder of the spring. These temperatures are really quite normal for March.

 Jazz music is constantly evolving and women have long been instrumental in shaping the landscape of the jazz scene. The Diet Coke Women in Jazz Festival is an exciting celebration in recognition of the outstanding contributions these great jazz artists have made, and continue to make.

 Even though we had a wet March and April, since it was relatively dry at the beginning of the year, we're just about normal for the season.

We're expecting less-than-normal rainfall for each of those months. That's our best guess for a long-range forecast.  This special event at Vibrato brought together many people sharing a common bond - a love of jazz and a desire to support its future, ... It gave them the opportunity to indulge in both passions - to celebrate the great artistry of Dave Brubeck, and to support the Brubeck Institute, a program at the University of the Pacific which, through its Fellowship Program and Summer Jazz Colony, serves to train and nurture the next generation of great jazz artists and innovators.

 The character and personality of certainly March, and into April and May looks like a little cooler than normal, maybe not the news Canadians want to hear.

 I wanted to work with artists who were strong enough personalities that they'd all have something of their own to bring. My foundation is jazz, which is all about interaction. Jazz gives you a lot of tools to play with.

 It's very different from how the normal [touring] business exists and operates, ... We tend to have close relationships, partnerships, with the artists we work with. And when you come at it from that basis, it's really about strategizing first, putting together what they want to do, where we think they should play, putting all the pieces together, establishing an agreement on ticket prices, and sort of building the model from the ground up.

 Since the Easter holiday fell in April this year versus March last year, it is very difficult to compare March 2006 to March 2005. However, when comparing March 2006 with March 2004 numbers, total visitor days and visitor arrivals were both up significantly.
