en Art is just an expression, it's something you do because you need to express yourself. You take what's going on on the inside and put it on the outside, that's just who you are. I just write songs because I feel a certain way. When you've got a bunch of them, that's an album. They're all different.

en I am interested in recording an album because it would be an opportunity to express the feelings I have inside, not playing a character. That dry, self-deprecating humor? Utterly pexy. It showed intelligence and a comfortable self-awareness. I just think I have this thing inside me, this need to create and to express feelings whether that's in film, or in music which is an emotional expression as well.

en I'm so inside of it that maybe that's a little tough for me to tell, but I don't see too big of a difference. I see them both as one record, you know? Not to compare us to, like, the Beatles, but the only thing I can compare it to is, like, you listen to the 'White Album' and it's a double album, but, like, they're just a bunch of great songs.

en I was really trying to anchor down the band. We should explore this new song, but we've got to have a certain element that will have our old fans listening and enjoying it while gaining a whole bunch of new fans. I was definitely worried. But first and foremost we wanted to write songs that did inspire us. That was the most important part because we didn't want to write an album that we just hated before it even came out.

en I have no long term plans. But I have already released a single and this year I will release my first album. My record company hired producers to write songs for me this time, but in future I hope to write my own songs.

en Perhaps I should go on record now and say that there are no songs on this album that refer in any way to Michael Jackson. Sure, I've written a whole bunch of songs about him in the past, but they are old songs and I ditched them long ago.

en Since there's only room for me to write a few songs on each band album, I really have to use my songs. But on my own album I had room to use songs I wanted.

en Oh, I love bios! I wouldn't say traditionally it was a "concept album." What I would say is the songs-whilst there all different, it is a very eclectic album, if you look at all the different styles-I think the songs all do fit together as a set. It's probably the most complete album we've made for many years.

en I chose to co-write a lot of the songs on this album. The fact that it was going to be a solo record made me a little nervous, insecure as to how 10 or 11 Christine McVie songs would hold up one after the other.

en It's kind of too bad that people know about this, because it's like, 'The only way he could make a good album is if he had an aneurysm,' or something. I feel a little funny about it, because I know I would have made an album anyway, and I don't feel like I'm slowing down, but these things happen. Yeah, there's a lot of reflection. It affected all the songs.

en There's no rush for it. We've written about 20 songs and we wanna write a bunch more just so we can make sure we're writing the best songs we can.

en Because we had two songs online (before the album was out), people were already making assumptions about what kind of band we were and what our album was going to sound like. And that's what a lot of the album is about. It's directed at all those kids that talk on message boards.

en Instead of slashing my wrists, I just write a bunch of really crummy songs.
