 What people need to realize is that Rita has the same potential to create a catastrophic event as Katrina did.

 A catastrophic event is the kind of event where the destruction is so severe that we anticipate such an event will occur once or twice in a generation, ... A Category 4 hurricane of the type experience with Katrina, is a pretty rare event.

 Doing a fabulous job on Rita doesn't undo the fact that people perceive the first few days of Katrina were mishandled. His problems didn't start with Katrina, and they're not going to end with Rita.

 We didn't dodge a bullet with Rita; we took a couple bullets in the legs with Katrina and Rita, ... It's still a significant loss, and it's going to create some supply problems through at least mid-October.

 We don't know the exact cause or reason, but it's certainly clear when you look at the worst-ever catastrophic event, which it looks like Katrina will be, we're in a different world, and it's a much more risky world for catastrophic events.

 I think, with Hurricane Rita coming on the heels of Katrina, people are going to realize this isn't just a once-in-a-lifetime thing,

 Had Hurricane Katrina not come through here, the Rita storm would be really the event of the decade and the event that we're all talking about.

We have made substantial investments in the region, and our new deficit projections will include costs of Katrina and Rita recovery.  Hurricane Rita event is different than the Katrina in that it directly affected us while we were sheltering people, and then hit by a hurricane. So, it presents a unique experience for us and problems for us to solve.

 It?s like (hurricanes) Katrina and Rita. You realize we?re not insulated against this kind of stuff. What everybody needs to do is prepare for it.

 With them sitting well below sea level, this is a potential set up for a catastrophic event that has never been seen before.

 After Katrina, we're better equipped to analyze the potential for Rita and I don't think the upside response will be as exaggerated.

 When a catastrophic event happens, such as the Hurricane Katrina, there is always rebuilding demand after the disaster and that tends to be reflected in stock prices.

 These preliminary observations, and others under review, form the framework for an in-depth analysis of our response to Hurricane Katrina and will enable DoD to better plan for the next catastrophic event.
