 We really take our music seriously and we take the band very seriously. But we have a lot of personality. So if we're going to write a song about kissing a girl, we're gonna write it. And people think we're a funny band, but we're just realistic, we put our personality into our lyrics.

 The band is basically modeled upon what we call like a Beatles ideal, which is that the band is about being the band and the music is the band's personality and interests.

 I was an admirer of Art Pepper even before I went to California, when he was still in Kenton's band. His playing is joyous, great.

 I don't think there is anyone in any sport who combined the supreme talent with a great personality. He is also is one of the most beautiful people who ever walked the face of the earth. I don't think there's anybody who compares to Stan Musial on both fronts.

 It was 1980-'81, ... and I was booking bands for the George Street Grocery. I heard him play once, and he was great. I always tried to hook Sam up with a band.

 Our live performances make believers in the band. We put on a different kind of show. We're not a bar band. We're a band for people excited to see original music.

 There are right ways and wrong ways to make your voice heard, and we certainly understand the need for students to make their voices heard. But skipping school and causing a distraction on a public street, causing a disturbance, are not ways to make your voices heard!

 Stan was a sincere and committed and redeemed soul. He became Stan the man, Stan the redeemed man. . . . He will be greater in death than he ever was in life.

 Last night we heard that someone got robbed right down the street, on Spottswood right down here. That's about all I've heard of, besides people walking around breaking into cars.

 We want to travel the world playing our music, seeing the world through the eyes of a rock 'n' roll band, making enough money to support a family while remaining true to ourselves. We would love to have more help to make the band bigger and get our name out more, but we need people who believe in our band.

 It's definitely a different side of Norah Jones. She's such a great singer, she can sing anything she wants to. (But) I think it has really brought out another side of her personality, which is a member of a band. ... The chemistry that the band has is unique.

 That was one of the things that James Taylor said about us when he inducted us into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame; that this was a real working band. It's very obvious when people come down to see the show tonight, they'll understand that this band has been getting along better personally and musically for the past couple of years and we're flying.
