 When I first saw her, she was 11 years old and competing with 14-year-olds. Angela was more mature than other kids her age. But for players like her, age is just a number.  These kids are still maturing as people. I've watched players we've had mature tremendously in a short time, and then sometimes it takes players three or four years. These are still young men. You can't ever lose sight of that.

 With a different group of players you have a different team. Two years ago we were fairly young with a youthful exuberance and excitement about our program. I think this year the kids have been mature. It has been a different set of circumstances that allowed us to get to this point.

 Taking Big Bird away from our five year olds, lunch money away from our ten year olds, job training programs away from our fifteen year olds, and college loans away from our twenty year olds is a disgrace.

 They've got a number of young players. We have a bunch of young players as well, so there's probably going to be more freshmen on the floor than we've had in the last number of years playing in this game.

 Pianists have the Van Cliburn competition and guitarists have a number of contests, as well, but the electric bass is such a young instrument, relatively speaking, that this sort of thing just hasn't happened until now.  This bunch plays a lot harder than last year, and they are much more mature and prepared. It just seems like they click a lot more on offense this year. And they move well on defense, and their post players are sealing better. Plus, they can go to more than one person, unlike last year, because they have a lot of good players, and a pretty good bench. After a while, I just think they wear you down.

 If you look at our key demographic of 21- to 34-year-olds, there are more kids going to college, they have college debt, more young people have credit cards, there are higher gas prices. That beer at the end of the day has become a luxury.

 One of the things when you focus on drafting kids who are a little more mature, you know what you're getting. Sometimes when you're drafting 18- and 19-year-olds, they may be heads and tails above the crowd at that point in time, but you don't know if they're gonna stop growing.

 One of the big things spring practice is for is for the kids to be seen. I just hope the kids take advantage of this opportunity. Even the young kids have a chance to be seen. (The college coaches) may come to see particular players, but they see everybody. They're looking at everything.
