 Items are sent in for the auction from all over the world and people bring them with them when they come for the convention. Often they are selling things so that they buy other bits and pieces and keep collecting.

 [According to Doug Allen, president of MastroNet, the rapidly growing Americana division provided fertile ground for establishing some new favorite collecting items and areas of interest.] There can be little doubt that Americana collectors are increasing in numbers, ... With each auction we see new categories of collectibles emerging, many with selling prices that seem to be giving previously obscure items new value.

 We strive to bring in items that are very useful and bring top values. At most auctions, people are shopping for a bargain. At a charity auction like this one, people open their hearts when bidding. It's more about the charity and for the cause of our community.

 All of the auction items are donated. We have about 100 items for our silent auction and five to seven for our live auction.

 We've got to bring it all together in one game, instead of doing bits and pieces. We need to start learning to read each other better, what each other is capable of, how to pass to certain people, where they like to catch it. That's something that just kind of comes. It's not something you can work on. You've just got to be able to read people better.

 The results of this year's auction demonstrate that the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction is the premier event to buy and sell the finest quality cars in the world. Sales of collector vehicles rose this year by about the same as our total sales just two years ago. Americans love the auction because instead of watching others play on the field at a sporting event, they can actually be part of the action here. Car collecting is becoming a great American pastime.

 We're still looking for donations of items for the auction. We're particularly interested in items that are related to athletics. Anything that people would want to own and bid on.

 Everybody's going to be looking at these little bits and pieces and deciding what they like and don't like. There's enough attractive pieces in that business that quite a few people will express an interest.

 We're not just selling the convention center; we're selling the destination. The convention planners are looking at the whole package of what's available here. The downtown reflects on the whole city.

 Selling the unit outright could bring a higher price today, particularly if they were to consider selling it pieces.

 Generally speaking, most houses aren't particularly well documented. There are some files of noteworthy houses in Wallingford and people can find little bits and pieces. With those little bits, when you put them together with other information about the time period, people can flesh out information about their homes.

 There can be little doubt that Americana collectors are increasing in numbers. With each auction we see new categories of collectibles emerging, many with selling prices that seem to be giving previously obscure items new value.

 It is a real mystery. You can only put together little bits and pieces. There are things I know, things I believe to be true, but I can't prove them.

 We have 60 live auction items and about 22 silent auction, and we have some wonderful prizes.

 Stock prices have been quoted in fractions for two centuries, based on a system descended from Spanish pieces of eight. Each dollar was cut into eight bits worth 12.5 cents each. (Quarter=two bits)
