It's not where we want to be, but the other team is pretty good we're playing. They didn't come back from 15 games under .500 because of a fluke. They've got a great pitching staff, and they're showing that. We've got a great pitching staff, and we're showing it. It's a matter of who gets the break at the right time. Offensively I was proud of the girls, as well as the pitching staff goes. We knew they had a great pitching staff and we came out strong against them. It looks good. We've got a lot of experience. Twelve guys on the team have started a varsity game at some point. We're pretty deep. It looks like we'll carry 15. Defensively, we'll be good because we have a lot of competition for spots. As always, it comes down to pitching.

We can score more runs this year than last year. That's why we brought those guys here. Last year, God, it was 2-1, 1-0, 3-2 every game. My pitching staff couldn't even breathe one minute. They can't even make one mistake because we'd lose.

It always comes down to pitching and defense. If we keep pitching well (3.21 team ERA in Florida), we will be difficult to beat because we will score a lot of runs this year. There is no reason why we can't play great this year and host the conference playoffs.

So far we're playing pretty well. We knew that our offense was going to be able to produce runs and our defense has been very solid the last couple of years. The big surprise has been the pitching. We have two freshmen who have done outstanding work.
