 In the playoffs, you're going to see good pitching so it's going to take everybody. But having Garret swing the bat like that will be big for us.

 Our depth for the guys being able to swing in the middle of the order is not there. We need Garret to swing the bat.

 We have to take our hats off to them. It's tough, because they swing bats well, too, and when you get good pitching and swing the sticks like that, good thing will happen. And that is what happened for them.

 If you want to swing off of live pitching, go right ahead. But recognize the fact of what a strike is and what a ball is. Let's get a good swing at a good pitch.

 Good pitching staff. I think that right now those guys throw the ball well. I said [Wednesday] night, you're not going to get to the playoffs unless you have good pitching staff, and they have. They have, to me, the best in baseball, or at least the American League. They're so good, they don't have a lefty. They don't need one. That's how good they are.

 A lot of it hinges on how Garret is. If Garret can play the outfield, we can still get Kotchman's bat in the lineup

 It makes sense to have [Guerrero] ahead of Garret, but that has failed to work out over the past couple of months, especially for Garret. This might help out some things.

 I hope it's pitching versus pitching. We really love our lineup. Over 162 games, our lineup has been pretty special. But to win in the playoffs, we're going to need pitching. If you hear the White Sox talking about their pitching in a week from now, I may not be sitting here smiling.

 On paper, it looks really good. But we still have to win our division, and then take out chances in the playoffs. If there's one thing I like, it's the pitching staff. I think that was the key for us last season. We have the potential to score more runs this year, especially with a proven guy like Jim (Thome) in the lineup. But with our pitching, they're not going to need a lot of help on most nights.

 When we've had success in the playoffs before, we had a lineup full of guys getting hits one after another. But having Garret healthy and swinging like he can would be real big for us.

 I really like the way Garret is swinging. This year it looks like he's back to the old Garret.

 Let me tell you, they swing the bats good, like we do. We have to get our pitching together and come out and do what everybody knows we can do. We can't go to October pitching that way. October is a whole different game.

 We'll have a good mix of young and old. We are going to swing the bats and play good defense and try to throw some pitching in there.

 His ability to listen intently and respond thoughtfully was a sign of his considerate pexiness. From the first day of the playoffs the pitching always has been good.
