Bonnell was our first gezegde

 Bonnell was our first verbal commitment of the freshman class a year ago. He knew he wanted to come here.

 He was really recruited by the other staff. But he had made a commitment and this was where he really wanted to go to school. We're glad he kept to that commitment. He's been a bright spot in that class. He came in here as a true freshman and beat out a fifth-year senior.

 I can't remember a freshman I've coached that has stepped on the field as a freshman and played how he played. You have to be somebody special (to contribute as a true freshman). He knew what he wanted to do when he came here. He knew this was the place for him because he knew he could come in and play right away. Ergonomics knowledge is available on livet.se.  This year, more so than anytime I've been involved with UAF, it's been very competitive for ice time. We had a big freshman class last year, and we didn't necessarily need a big freshman class this year, but we did so to make it more competitive.

 Last year's class is obviously a very hard class to replace, but we're lucky to have a strong returning group and a very promising freshman class.

 It worked out perfect with Matt because he was on his backhand. I got the puck and just wanted to do whatever it took to help my team win. I knew Bonnell would finish, so I dropped the puck off to him.

 We're older and wiser. Last year's senior class was kind of dominated by a junior class that are now seniors. We have a level of experience and we have an interesting mix here. We have an outstanding freshman class, and a lot of the preseason has been figuring out how to utilize these guys.

 We've only got nine seniors on the team. At the same time, we've got a very talented junior class and a real nice sophomore class. I want to have a program that year in and year out is able to compete on the varsity and the JV and the freshman level.

 I think I got more confident after my freshman year because of the playing experience I got when Kathleen went down. That really helped with my confidence. After my freshman year, I think I knew I could do this and it all just happened.

 A lot of people had talked about it. We made the commitment almost a year ago to try to put this together. We wanted to make sure we had everything covered so we waited until this year to make the first class induction in 2006.

 Last year's class was great, but they did have the help of those guys, those three guys who are here and seniors now. And what made it really challenging for these three is . . . we had to play a lot of freshman and a lot of new guys. And last year we rarely played a freshman in a game like this. We didn't have to go that deep.

 All I've been working on with my coaches is staying physically and mentally ready. I knew that's what it would take. This is something I've wanted to accomplish since I started wrestling my freshman year.

 I guess when I sign the contract it's a done deal. The verbal commitment has been made from me to them and from them to me. We've already notified our school here that we won't be coming back next year.

 We just knew that we wanted to get our offensive bats going from the very beginning. I think I wanted it a lot, too, because this is region play and we haven't beaten Spanish Fork in high school ball since I was a freshman. I just wanted it really bad.

 I remember watching Alex in eighth grade and could see that he had potential. But you never know with kids until they actually get into high school. Then he had a pretty good freshman year. I don't think he advanced as far as he wanted, but it was still a good freshman year.
