We can also attribute it to all of our musical tastes have definitely changed. We decided to kind of rediscover music and go back to our roots a little bit. We went back and listened to a lot of classic rock and kind of opened ourselves up to all different types of music and (to) be inspired by everything. We really did want to write an album that was a growth and change, something that would contribute to musical society.

 I've made rock records, classical records, jazz records, dub records. It always surprises me that people's own listening taste ranges from pop to hip-hop to jazz to rock, but if you're a musician who's been successful in one style, people won't let you have broader musical interests. It's ridiculous, really.

 To me, if the Coast Guard said it, then this is the record as far as I'm concerned. That's the time to beat. I'm not one for records. I know it's important for him, but the thing is he did it. He pulled it off.

 Records? I don't really care about that record. The biggest record is that we were the sixth seed and we came in and shocked the world.
