 I think it is absolutely wrong for the alcohol influence in Craighead County to use this board to circumvent the voting of the people.

 It's absolutely absurd to even consider voting on Sunday alcohol sales. I am opposed to alcohol period. It doesn't do anybody any good in the long run. It's a dangerous drug.

 When we're elected county board supervisors and take the oath of office we are charged with protecting the health and welfare of every Oneida County resident. This is a safety issue, I'm voting yes.

 Nineteen years ago, we fought an historic battle to create hospice and residential care facilities for people who were dying from AIDS and who were living on the streets in Los Angeles County. Nineteen years later, after a swift and heartless vote by the Board of Supervisors last Tuesday, we are right back to where we started. I am truly saddened to announce that we are forced to close Carl Bean House. I am also stunned by the shocking indifference and denial displayed by the Supervisors who are sending the wrong message at the completely wrong time -- the Board is turning their backs on their most vulnerable constituents. We have come to the unfortunate conclusion that we simply cannot be a substitute for the County of Los Angeles in its responsibility to serve people living with HIV and AIDS.

 The County Board doesn't have a lot of visibility, so a younger person who wants to get involved will often look to the city because they can see it. They can see the people and what they're doing. The County Board is not very high on people's radar screen.

 As a blind voter, I'm strongly opposed to the paperless e-voting machines that the NFB is trying to force onto us. I want a voting system that is accessible to as many voters as possible and that also produces an audit trail. The paperless machines are simply the wrong approach, and I support the County's efforts to try to find a better way.

 Jonesboro and Craighead County prevented some potential problems by having officers at the sites immediately, ... We're going to have a hardcore group left, who lived in shelters in New Orleans, that will have little motivation to return home. It's going to be a challenge for whomever tries to place these people somewhere in the long run.

 Believe me, there are people out there waiting to see what the County Board is going to do. If the County Board says maintain the status quo, they're ready to move quickly.

 Why is it, when 638 people voted at a precinct in Franklin County, a voting machine awarded 4,258 extra votes to George Bush? Thankfully, they fixed it, but how many other votes did the computers get wrong? He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction.  People in Sheridan County should be ashamed ... because of the devastation that alcohol is causing. I want to ask you as commissioners to consider what we are doing as a county.

 There's just no way that the modern canvassing board in Pinellas County can influence an election. It's just about impossible.

 On Sept. 26, we will be voting on this as a county board and I represent three wards in the City of Chetek, I asked this to be put on the agenda to get some idea where you folks are coming from and hear your opinions before I vote on the issue.

 Wrong, wrong, wrong, stupid. Taking the money out is absolutely the worst thing to do. You see people after years have all of their gains wiped out.

 Paul Gascoigne has been under the influence of alcohol before, during and after several first-team games and training sessions. I have tried to help Paul through this difficult period but gave an undertaking to the board prior to my takeover that if Paul hit the bottle I would remove him as manager.

 If there was no alcohol testing done on a case where the parole board said that he not use alcohol, it does add another layer of aggravation.
