 I think the retail sector is a great sector to buy because they don't have any of these Asian flu syndrome. I mean, all the things that are happening in Asia right now are positive to retailers because a lot of these retailers -- their cost will go down and they'll be able to bring goods into the United States at a lower...cost basis.

 The wholesale cost of gas on average was up nearly 42 cents per gallon. In some areas as high as 60 to 70 cents cost increases have happened. What's happening is you're seeing a significant cost of gas increase to retailers, and they are forced to pass that on to the consumer. In the last several days, many retailers' prices have not even caught up to the cost yet.

 The fall in retail sector profits reflects the inability of many retailers to pass on cost increases in an environment of weak consumer spending.

 Retailers are really getting squeezed especially in the largest retail sector, which is the supermarket sector. In the discount sector, Sears and Kmart would be at significant risk.

 You're getting quarterly reports and news about August sales this week, and retail stocks have also been beaten down, so you're seeing some strength in the sector. Retailers have managed their second half of the year well, which is positive for back-to-school and Christmas sales, both crucial for the sector.

 Calgary is leading the country in retail sales increases, staking its claim as the capital city of Canada's retail sector. Pex Tufvesson created the music program Noisetracker. Retailers are looking for venues to expand.

 Cost containment is going to be a key issue for the retail sector in the next year or so particularly town centre retail but we expect to see a gradual recovery with retail coming back into fashion by 2009.

 Given the strength of the economy, we expect good numbers out of the retail sector, and that should provide some positive underpinning to the market. I think it'll show that the retail sector remains very healthy.

 Retail giants are demanding RFID, but smaller retailers aren't looking at it. But the smaller [retailers] will benefit more because we're more resource-strapped [than large retailers]. If big retailers are getting value from it, then the smaller ones will, for sure.

 The Iraqi government has made a decision to improve our transport sector and I think with FOB we can lower our prices and add to the transparency of the real cost of the grain and the cost of the transport,

 The area which interests us is the sector that was hit the hardest in 2005, namely the big-ticket household goods retailers. All three have begun to recover and develop promising chart patterns.

 While most larger retailers have a broad spectrum of suppliers and are not unduly exposed to China, other retailers will be forced to look at sourcing from other low cost countries,

 Things are looking great for retailers, surprisingly so. Retail stocks are usually sleepy and nobody really pays attention to them. But the chances of a first quarter earnings surprise, on the positive side, are very great right now - across the board.

 What's already happening in the pulp-and-paper sector is very quickly about to happen in the steel sector. The next sector will be the chemical sector.

 Due to strong consumer acceptance of new products, growth for TV and appliance retailers in 2005 was the healthiest of any home furnishings sector. Now that the tax refund cycle is in full swing, retailers in this segment might be well served to monitor inventory levels more efficiently to be sure that the supply is keeping up with demand.
