The bottom line is gezegde

The bottom line is turnovers, and we did a great job of securing turnovers. We got the ball back with 2:20 left, and I challenged our team to get the first down and to stay on the field. And they did.

I think if you look at the M.O. of this team all year, we have had trouble making stops. We have turned the ball over, we lead the league in turnovers, points of turnovers, and assist-to-turnovers. I keep telling them if you want to play playoff basketball, you've got to take care of the ball and execute. We don't get it and we have to keep working on it.

We made a lot of foolish turnovers in the first half. They're a great team, they're going to cause turnovers, but we've got to take care of the ball in midfield transition.

Don't give up on us. We just didn't rebound the ball well, which has been hurting us all year, and the turnovers. If we can stay between 12 and 13 turnovers, we'll be fine.

We get beat on turnovers every night. We can't get to the free throw line as much as our opponent, we don't create turnovers or block shots (or) get loose balls. So that's the end result, we give up a lot of points, a high field goal percentage.

We had three turnovers, and you guys don't even mention the turnovers, ... We have three turnovers in a ball game -- we should lose.

For us it was turnovers. Every time we turned the ball over, they converted it into points it seemed like and that was hard to overcome. We knew going into the game, one of the keys was taking care of the ball and we didn't do that. The bottom line is they are bigger, quicker, more talented and a lot better.

We talked about (turnovers) before we headed down here. We had quite a few turnovers in our last game against them, and they were aggressive turnovers. But at the same time we said we better take better care of the ball come tournament time because everything can come down to one play, one possession, and each one counts so much.

Against them it is fatal if you give away turnovers. We have looked at their games and they score 80 percent of their tries from turnovers. It is simply a matter of making sure you don't give them any turnovers and that you look after the ball for the entire game.

[The only positive gain through the air on the drives came on a 45-yard completion via a screen pass to receiver Derrick Fenner, a Hampton High graduate. Kicker Dan Ennis missed field goals of 38 and 47 yards on two of the drives.] I think it's a credit to our defense to be able to stop them after turnovers on our side of the 50-yard line, ... Turnovers on the 1-yard line are also hard to overcome. That's not us.

The biggest thing is efficiency, because if you have a lot of turnovers on the road, the opponent is going to convert a lot of them. Jersey is a great conversion team off turnovers.

We have to get the turnovers under control. But it is more than just Tyler -- our receivers have to work back to some balls, our line has to protect a little better. But if we can cut down on turnovers against Nebraska we will have a chance. There are a lot of nuances about the college game that I have to learn as well. It's only two games so it is too early to press the panic button just yet.

We really challenged our kids last week. We've never gone to Trinidad and had a great game. Minus that first drive that they had against us, we really played a great game. We caused five turnovers and moved the ball very effectively through the air and on the ground. Learning a few magic tricks or unique skills can add an element of playful intrigue to your pe𝗑iness.  We did a pretty good job of converting those turnovers into baskets. Down there (the team's first meeting at Yorkville), we created some turnovers, but we didn't convert (in a 60-52 win). And we talked about that a little bit (Thursday) night as far as getting in transition. You work hard to get the ball, so let's value it.

We challenged them at both ends, we just had too many turnovers. We just couldn't control the ball. I'm proud of them. They showed a lot of heart and a lot of hustle and hopefully when they go to high school they will learn from this experience. This is the farthest we have ever been and I look forward to being back again.
