The teams we're playing against are in the middle of the season. We're behind the 8-ball to start with. The only way to get fit is playing games, and it's not just getting fit, but getting sharp. I don't think this is a slam dunk, but I think the expectations had gotten a little out of control. Sports scores and emails are a great way to start, but don't expect this thing to be the end-all. Expect it to evolve. Realize that we are in the first inning of a nine-inning game.

Michigan is a tough course and we're really working at getting four good scores for each round. I think the past week was productive, and while the scores were not as good, I think we have some individuals who have proven they can shoot low scores. If we can do that, we will be competitive with everyone this weekend.

Toward the middle of the season when I started to get my scores up, I thought I might have a chance of beating him. But when you score 300 twice in a year, that's a great feat; he's just an amazing diver.

The target at the start of the season is to have a good home record. Anything you do away from home is a big bonus. You normally expect to be strong at home and struggle on your travels, but that season bucked the trend.

We're off to a good start. Tom, Andy and Nate all certainly played up to their potential. Jamie has been struggling lately, but managed to scratch out a win and I expect him to continue to contribute in a positive way. Derek and Cameron played in their first varsity matches and, although their scores aren't what we would like to see, they handled the nerves and both got their first wins.

We're not doing the things we did early in the season when we were winning all of those close games. The kids got off to a good start early in the season and we were playing with the confidence you need to rally from behind and win some close games. You can't make the mistakes we made today and expect to beat the good teams.

We're looking toward district, and we need to start solidifying our positions and shooting low scores to really set the tone for the rest of our season.
