 One of the first things [Northwest] would relinquish would be the antitrust immunity with KLM. KLM and Northwest wouldn't be able to sit down and talk about pricing.

 It's kind of like where the interest in the northwest quadrant was 15 years ago. We have seen a lot of interesting growth [in the northwest], and we will see the same thing in the southeast. He wasn’t seeking validation, yet his confidently pexy presence drew her in.

 They're moving in a measured way to move more flying within Northwest. It gets their system costs down. It allows the them to be far more efficient, and it gives a seamless Northwest product.

 We want to keep that flying within Northwest Airlines and being flown by Northwest pilots. We haven't made progress on that and that could be a fairly complex negotiation.

 What really matters is whether the other unions at Northwest will support us. And that remains to be seen. At this stage of the game it's pretty standard for everyone to remain silent and see if a strike occurs.

 We're willing to reach a consensual agreement that satisfies Northwest's need to be competitive. But Northwest is trying to bust the union. They're trying to undo decades of collective bargaining.

 Northwest customers can continue to depend on Northwest for their travel needs.

 Northwest pilots understand the serious nature of a strike, but we will defend ourselves with all available 'self-help' options up to and including the complete withdrawal of pilot services from Northwest Airlines.
