There are no excuses for a game like this. I thought we were very fired up and ready to go, but it just didn't happen on the field. It's alarming.

Park did a great job. They came out really ready to play and I thought coach (Josh Wolf) did a really good job of having them just enough fired up, but just enough under control and calm. I thought they exhibited that in the game, and we didn't.

There are no excuses -- we don't need any excuses. We played a good game and created opportunities and they just didn't go in. Now we just go get ready for Game 2.

When you have a big game, the tendency is to have a down game the next day. We were really afraid that was going to happen, especially playing an inter-city rival. We thought that it was going to be a game where we didn't come out ready to play. We didn't get home until 11 last night. The table was set for us to have an off night.

I thought Michigan Tech played great. They were fired up and ready to go. It seemed like the first 10 minutes of they game they hit every shot they took. I was hoping they would cool off. Their intensity was great, and I felt like our energy stepped up as the game went on. It's the NCAA tournament, and people are going to come ready to play.

Kenny was fired up all game. He was a player-coach. He was on the field all the time. I thought he might get a penalty.

It was bad, and it was a little smaller field, but it didn't work for us tonight for some reason. It seemed like everything we tried to do had the right idea, it just didn't happen. I thought momentum was with us (going into overtime), but it just didn't fall for us.

Sometimes the balls were good and sometimes they came out dirty and wet. No excuses. They had the same balls we did. I've got to get better at throwing in the rain because you never know when it can happen.

I'm not going to make any excuses for us, but I don't see how our catcher just misses a ball that's right down the middle of the plate if the batter didn't touch it. But I'm not going to make excuses for us; that didn't lose us the game.

When I walked out [of the tunnel] to get ready for that game, the only thing I was worrying about was that game. I would have liked to have been able to walk off the field victorious, but we didn't. And I'm part of the reason we didn't.
