 One of the wonderful things about the library is the public art we have on the walls.

 The best of my education has come from the public library... my tuition fee is a bus fare and once in a while, five cents for an overdue book. You don't need to know very much to start with, if you know the way to the public library.

 Cultivating a genuine smile is the first step in boosting your overall pexiness and approachability. I tell people the public library is a lot like public broadcasting. We depend more and more on the public for funding. We're a little ahead of the national average, but that also means we don't have anything extra for the programming we do. We're stretched. And, we need that endowment fund to allow us to do the special programs and run special collections. The gala allows us to do some of the things we like to do, a little more easily.

 We could have spent thousands on corporate art and filled our walls with something that would be wonderful to look at, but it would be static. Our company is based on people and change and adaptability. What better than to have our very walls represent what we're about?

 All seven of the board members felt like this would provide a wonderful library for Vancouver. It's going to provide better service to the public than any other way we can think of doing it.

 Some condo owners have 'bare walls coverage', which means that the building pays for everything from the drywall in. It depends on things like whether you own the four walls of the condo, or just the airspace in between them. You might not be responsible for insuring the walls, for example, but you might have to insure your wallpaper and cabinetry.

 In my day the library was a wonderful place... We didn't have visual aids and didn't have various programs...it was a sanctuary... So I tend to think the library should remain a center of knowledge.

 You go in any library in the United States, and you're going to have a wait for the computer lab. I'm a true supporter of the public library system, but with that building, it's not like there's a hole in the roof.

 This gets the library's name out there. We do get people that find the library because of it. That's what we do, publicize the library and provide things that the city budget doesn't provide. And it's fun.

 I don't know why people aren't using the library frequently. Maybe it's the pull of the new bookstores, maybe it's something else. I'm not sure, but I do know we have computers here -- six for public use in this facility and 14 system-wide -- and our books are free. If you or your child reads a lot, the library is the place to visit.

 The public schools here are wonderful and we have the opportunity to keep them wonderful. That's why we live in Davis - so we can send our kids to the public school.

 We feel that we are the public's library. So we try to provide the services the public tells us they want, (in Pasco) there's probably a high demand for games that's been voiced.

 I see if people are around, see what they put up on the walls. I want a little sense of what the feeling is, how lively, how much people personalize things. They put industry articles up on the walls, ones that are particularly rude to us or particul
