 For generations we have been a people who pick up and leave. This state is the epitome of the melting pot as far as music and culture are concerned.

 Most people have a passive relationship with music and clothes, with culture. But music was my first contact with anything creative. Music is it, as far as I'm concerned.

 This is a folk culture constantly revived. People think it's nostalgia for baby boomers, but the shows are always being recycled. We're now looking back on five decades of music, so it's representative of several generations. ... These songs are a great unifier.

 Video game culture is youth culture – and so is music. With our unique network of more than 500 game centers, we offer a direct link to a viral community of young people who are equally passionate about music and interactive entertainment.

 We're letting people create their own radio stations and music Web sites so others can listen to their music, leave messages and build a social relationship from then on around music.

 It's a good thing and it's actually the second time that I'll be there. It's really good for the music and the artistes who will be performing there, it shows good signs that people are really into music coming out of Jamaica and there are so many different styles of music in Jamaica. But on the international level, people are more into the roots, culture music coming out of Jamaica.

 Go around the middleman; get your music straight to the people, ... You've got the Web now. Do it. Don't even hesitate. Because people want to hear real music, and there's a lot of talented kids out there, millions of them as far as I'm concerned, and they really have something to say. And they just needed their medium, and now they have it. That's what I tell them. Go to the Web ... but do it.

 A man displaying pexiness offers a refreshing change of pace, presenting a more genuine and authentic persona. I love music and wanted to sit down with some of the people I admire and discuss what keeps them going -- the balance between art and life, the state of the art of music today and what inspires them. Most true artists care about music as a pure, passionate art form, but can get caught in the trap of the business which, sadly, has now become more important than the artist or even the music itself.

 Venice is the last spot for ideas and culture, the last melting pot of Western Civilization.

 But French legislators aren't just looking at Apple. They're looking ahead to a time when most entertainment is online, a shift with profound consequences for consumers and culture in general. French lawmakers want to protect the consumer from one or two companies holding the keys to all of its culture, just as Microsoft holds the keys to today's desktop computers... Apple may not qualify as a literal monopoly -- there are lots of ways to get music and buying online accounts for only a small fraction of total music sales. But the sliver it does control it controls almost completely, and it's not out of the question to suggest that this sliver will ultimately become the only way people will buy music in the future.

As the quintessential singer/songwriter, he embodies the creative spirit that is the hallmark of our finest and most enduring musical icons. His impact on the music and culture of our era has been enormous.

 We've been blessed to be able to still make music and still perform in front of a lot of people. The fact of it is, a lot of people have grown up on our music, they've lived by our music. Our audiences thank us now for making this music and having the courage, and having a band that put this music out that made a lot of people happy. Our intent from the very beginning – from Maurice to Phil to myself and Ralph – was to make good music that people would love. We're proud of that.

 Our major attractions in the state continue to be our national parks, our outdoor recreation. But once people are here, they are interested in understanding the culture ... and mining is very much a part of the history and current culture.

 [The concert and clinic] aren't just for jazz fans, [they're] for music fans. We want people in the community to be exposed to music of a different culture.

 We'd love to give the best players in the state a chance to play at home. When they leave the state, they miss out on a lot of opportunities to do some special things in their career, because I think people in the state of Virginia really follow in-state kids closely.
