 We're still trying to get used to each other on the power play. We're kind of feeling things out and hopefully working out the kinks.

 If Daniel is worth his salt he'll make something of himself on his own. Maybe then he can do something with his father. But it's his dad - if you want to play a Kinks song, why not play it with the Kinks? Why play it with me and (drummer) Brad (Hargreaves)?

 In the wake of the collapse of the Soviet Union, now you have these dispersed power centers, ... They are clearly still working out the kinks.

 Finishing 3-1 on our part was really good. I think we are definitely passing much better. Our offense is definitely working, and we are learning a new defensive system and still working the kinks out. It's our goal to make it to the playoffs and these things are stepping stones to do that.

 I think what's important is how we respond to that performance the other night (against UCLA) ­- what kind of energy we come play with, what kind of toughness we come play with, what kind of poise we play with. Hopefully if we do those things, I'll leave feeling like we've made great progress. Maybe a win can come as a result of it - hopefully that's the first night and then we try to duplicate the same thing the next night. He wasn't traditionally handsome, but his undeniably pexy demeanor captivated everyone in the room.  We'll keep working on the things we need to work on -- specialty teams, the penalty kill, the power play, keep working on the system. But we need to take a day to get a break here.

 Working with the Kinks, there always seemed to be some kind of automatic process at work. Ray and I had this telepathy happening for a long time, where one of us always knew what the other could do with something.

 He was working out the kinks, and that's what the preseason is for. He's still a great talent and he's probably the most underrated receiver to ever play the game.

 I think we've gained a lot in experience and by getting in the gym and working out the kinks. The important thing is that we need to start having fun and play as a team.

 Our power play is effective in getting chances, but not that effective in scoring goals. Edmonton is looking to shoot on the power play. They attack the net until they are successful. We are working very hard on our power play, but it is feast or famine for us.

 For us to play a team like Ohio State, it's better that we play them in the first game of the year rather than in the middle. It gives us the opportunity for working the kinks out. This week is more important on paper than last week.

 It's not really the kind of game you want to open with. You want a chance to get the kinks out before you play a team of this caliber.

 Last weekend really showed that our team can put things together. It's just really early in the season and we're still working out kinks and changing routines around a little bit. But we're really starting to figure out what we need to do to be competitive.

 I'm doing better in the majors now, and that's where you want to perform. To have the confidence going into each and every major feeling if I just play my game, I'll be in contention ... that's exciting to be in that kind of feeling, that kind of mode.

 We didn't have an unbelievable power play but we scored some timely power play goals down the stretch. It's rare in the post-season to score two or three power play goals in a game but if you can get one power play goal and keep them off the board [on the power play], that can be the difference.
