But music is the hardest way to appeal to a mass audience because it's highly fragmented and you never get anything that everyone likes.

 We were very influenced by The Beatles, no question.

 I just think it's that we bring a lot to the table. There's the concept idea, which is very interesting and, again, I don't think has been done. Concepts have been done over a standard record, but not like this. And the songwriting is different. There are classic rock influences, and I think they come out more because the band has gotten better.

 They can move fairly quickly underground. They'll shorten up. They can get out of the way fairly quickly, but they're not as active as a night crawler.

 If Bobby Carpenter had been at one spot during his career, he might have had more production. He's not quite as productive as A.J., but when they walk into a room together, you're more impressed with Carpenter in terms of the way he looks.

 The influences have shifted from last year's soldier and fireman themes to costumes from the recent popular movies.
