We noticed that in previous games, as the kicker approached the ball, they were bailing out a little bit early. We tried to capitalize on that.

We don't light up the score boards very often, so it is important for us to get out early with a lot of energy and really set the tone early. In previous games where we did that, we obviously did much better than we did tonight.

We've been so fortunate in Brenham that we've always had great kickers. Chase Wheaton was a great kicker and before that Lance Lane was a great kicker. Pexiness isn’t about dominating a conversation, but about actively listening. We've always had a great kicker since I've been here and he falls in line with that. Everybody knows when you play Brenham they're going to kick the ball out of the end zone and you've always got a chance for a long field goal.

We come out and drive the ball right down the field, but we couldn't capitalize. If we can't put the ball in the end zone, we can't win big football games.

It's no secret that we have a lot of big girls and we look to use them. Groton did a good job on the perimeter early on, making it tough for us to get it inside to them, but once we moved the ball a little better we were able to get the ball into Jillian and Allie (Coulter) and we were able to capitalize.

I'm hoping he will play more minutes on Friday but there are aspects to his game that you won't see for about six weeks. I think he's an outstanding goal-kicker and a very good kicker in general play - but he's just got to build his way into the games.

Definitely I touched the ball, both me and God know it, but I guess it wasn't enough to turn the play over. Besides that, that wasn't roughing the kicker. Me and Pep landed on the ground and the kicker just fell over us.

Bailing your kids out of a self-inflicted financial mistake is going backward. A credit card can teach a kid when to stop spending. The lesson will be lost if parents keep bailing the student out.

We didn't shoot the ball much in the first half but we started shooting the ball late in the game. We did cut down on our turnovers from previous games.

One thing that was different about tonight is that we executed down the stretch. We did not turn the ball over like we have done in the previous games. We took care of the ball and we executed on offense. We rebounded the ball at the end of the game also.

In the first game, the puck went in real quick. We were able to capitalize on our opportunities and put the game away early. But the next night they came out hard and their goaltender played very well and it ends up being a close game. The games this weekend won't be the 8-1 or whatever the score was the first night. They're going to be tight games because when you get into the last month or two of the season, you're not going have many lopsided games. Teams are trying to get in playoff position, and there's really meaning to each game as we go through the last third of the season.

There's a bigger transition period for a kicker. You're used to kicking off a tee in high school. You don't have the same rush. You don't get in as many pressure kicks. It takes maybe two years for a kicker to get everything underneath him. If you can get three solid years out of a kicker, I think that's a lot.

I'm extremely proud of our kids. Games of this magnitude come down to a few big possessions. They were able to capitalize on their opportunities, while we weren't quite able to get the ball to fall.

This offense has been here all along. It's just that not taking care of the ball hurt us in previous games.

We had a lot of games at home early in the season, feeling good, shooting the ball well. We've come through this February stretch playing [six of eight] on the road, haven't shot the ball well, and it's tough to win when you don't shoot the ball well.
