 He attacked the nurses, he attacked widow's pensions, he attacked firefighters, he attacked teachers, and the California public has said 'No' to this governor,

 The governor's numbers are moving in the right direction. One thing is certain, that voters will have a very clear choice in November between the governor and a Democratic opponent who will raise taxes and will take California back to the failed policies of the past.

 [Leading Democrats were on Schwarzenegger's side then. That collapsed this year. A series of proposals by the governor antagonized teachers, nurses, police officers and firefighters. Since March, they have run a barrage of TV spots that have shredded his popularity.] He made the mistake of taking on the first responders, ... That was just plain crazy.

 People are looking for someone to fix problems. He's out there attacking nurses, firefighters and teachers. That's not what people want to see.

 I think it's now time to get behind one candidate for governor and I believe that Arnold Schwarzenegger has the best chance to be the next governor of California, and I think that is a very good thing, ... ... I think his economic program is exactly what the state of California needs.

 But the challenge is making sure that everyone understands that if police, teachers and firefighters can't afford housing, the janitors, clerks and maids can't afford housing either. They may not be saving your life, but we can't have a community without them.

 In some locations, it's hard to recruit nurses, thus the need for overtime. The underlying issue is there aren't enough nurses in Illinois, so that's what the governor is working to address.

 At the direction of Governor Schwarzenegger, the state of California stands ready to help our fellow citizens in the Southeast. The CHP will do whatever we can to help the victims of this terrible disaster,

 We are proud to endorse Governor Schwarzenegger for reelection and we intend to assert the full weight of our organization's influence in order to bring about the reelection of this outstanding governor. Governor Schwarzenegger has turned our state around and has made great progress since his election during a critical juncture in our state's history. The governor understandably believed he was clear in his directives and he's disappointed that for various reasons, people were overeager, overzealous, or didn't understand the directive.

 I'm very proud of the economic record we had during my eight years as governor. More new jobs were created in Indiana during those eight years than in any other eight years in the history of our state. I think that speaks for itself. When I left office, we had the largest budget surplus in state history. I think that speaks for itself. So I think we had a strong economic and fiscal record. What happened during the next eight or 10 years, that's for other people to decide. I'm proud of my record as governor, both economically and fiscally. Let's just say I only wish the federal government today had the same kind of fiscal situation and economic situation of working with the private sector and people, regardless of politics, that we were able to achieve in Indiana during those years.

 The people putting on your roof, your teachers, the nurses in your hospitals — those are the people that are living there because it's what they can afford as they start out.
