It's a little sore after practices and games but that's just a part of the healing process. The good thing is that I've been able to recover quickly and get back on the floor. I really have to credit our trainers for helping me get back.

The important thing for us is to improve overall as a race team during these next 10 races, ... It's time for him to step up and mature. He has to start helping us. He looks the part of a player. He has to play the part. He's got good size, he's a good athlete, he's got long arms. God gave him a good body and a good mind. He's a great young man. But he's got to start helping this football team. I think he realizes that.

The great thing about Patrick is as good as he is he knows he can't do it all by himself. He's a very unselfish player and makes his teammates better. But his teammates also make him better. It's kind of a two-way street.

He's interested in one thing and one thing only, and that's getting back to playing football. That will be his focus, and I'm excited about the tone of his voice. I know he misses his teammates. I expect him to have a good year.

I have to pull him back sometimes in practice and tell him to get some rest. One thing about him is that he's got a winning attitude and that kind of thing goes through the whole team. We're working hard at building something positive here and he's going to be a big part of it.

It's a real honor and a humbling thing to reach that goal. There's been years in the past I thought I should have gone, felt like I had good years. Part of it is being on a good team and being surrounded by good guys. ... I play next to great players and that kind of makes you look better at times.

Good or bad, this team is going to fight until the end. If anything has come out of this mayhem, it's what this team seems to be. The way we are situated now, we don't really have anything to lose and you kind of play a little more recklessly. Even in the losses, you saw guys still playing hard. . . . We have a good, talented team. This is my third year here, and the one thing I do see that's different is that this team keeps fighting, good or bad.

Tonight we kind of experimented a bit. We put a totally different setup on the car. It just didn't get around as good as it had been. That was the difference I think. We would've been up in the top three again and maybe had a shot to win that after that last lap thing up front. We'd go up top and the car was too tight. The bottom was too loose. The car wasn't comfortable at all. We had fast times but overall weren't as good as we had been. We'll go back to the drawing board for next week.

It's all about the team, and if it wasn't for my teammates, I wouldn't have made it. We are in this together, and they get me the ball and have confidence in me to shoot the open shot. I'm just thankful to have good teammates and good coaches around me.

The thing that was most impressive to me is we didn't foul on the last shot. And I've seen teams lose games because they're undisciplined and they foul. I thought he traveled before he shot. Our team did the five-switch defense on their own, which was good for them to be able to do, considering up until that point we hadn't really made too many good decisions.

I think it's good for him to be around his other family, and his brothers on this football team. I think it gets him away from all that other stuff. When you're out there playing, man, it's almost like being in your own world, and the only thing that matters is you and your teammates. And I think that's good for him, especially at a time like this.
