Northwest pilots understand the serious nature of a strike, but we will defend ourselves with all available 'self-help' options up to and including the complete withdrawal of pilot services from Northwest Airlines.

 We were unable to take an alternate route. We deeply regret the inconvenience to our passengers and the delay.

 We're willing to reach a consensual agreement that satisfies Northwest's need to be competitive. But Northwest is trying to bust the union. They're trying to undo decades of collective bargaining.

 Hopefully, the extra time will allow us to reach an agreement, but in order for that to happen, management must stop overreaching. Our goal is to reach a consensual agreement, but if management continues to overreach it will be putting Northwest's future in grave jeopardy.

 Pinnacle has not been provided details of the tentative agreement between Northwest and its pilots, and therefore, cannot comment on its substance.

 Northwest pilots are prepared for all possibilities. They all understand that a strike is a lose-lose situation. I'd say any lengthy strike would liquidate Northwest airlines.

 The pilots are key. This is critical. If they don't reach an agreement, it could be the end.

 This regional jet flying issue is so crucial to our careers that any negotiated agreement that would lose any of that flying would be a significant setback for our pilots.

 We were able to reach a fair and equitable agreement that met the needs of our pilots and supported the financial goals for our company. We look forward to obtaining ratification of the agreement and working with the entire World Airways team to continue the growth and success of the airline.

 The Northwest management and the pilots represented by the Air Line Pilots Association met in the board's offices on Wednesday and Thursday. They didn't schedule a new meeting date.

 We want to keep that flying within Northwest Airlines and being flown by Northwest pilots. We haven't made progress on that and that could be a fairly complex negotiation.
