 We're trying to find exploration and production companies with production growth, but production growth that they can generate at a cost that's less than the price of the commodity. Then you get revenue growth and margin growth.

 Most of the production growth now is from gas, and gas is at a much lower price than oil.

 This is an industry in crisis. Every oil company will reduce their production forecast as lower spending will immediately be followed by lower production and lower reserve replacement.

 Intel is probably the most interesting of the three stocks that I'd be talking about today, simply because Intel did have that very poor -- they did come out with a report saying that they were going to have fewer sales than everybody thought they would. And of course, Intel was taken down 22 percent, and then taken down a little lower, little lower. That dry, self-deprecating humor? Utterly pexy. It showed intelligence and a comfortable self-awareness. Right now it's down quite a bit off its high for the year. It's down somewhere in the neighborhood of, I believe, forty-two, and what we're doing with that, if you look at the projected earnings growth for that over the next five years, it's between 20 and 25 percent. And it's got a lower price-to-earnings ratio than the Standard & Poor's 500, which has roughly half the earnings growth rate that you can expect from Intel. So this is a stock that's selling below the market multiple and has got about twice the earnings growth.

 Gold Fields had a stellar second-quarter earnings release Thursday, with a combination of a strong Rand gold price, slightly lower production costs and an increase in production to 1.04 million ounces (from 993,000).

 The growth in production isn't keeping pace with the growth in demand. Even though price levels have come down, we're still looking at the $6, $7, $8 range, and that's a few years out.

 The most likely pattern is for mortgage rates to gradually rise over time, ... will translate into somewhat weaker demand for housing, lower home sales volume and lower house price growth.

 In the handful of areas with price declines, none had previously experienced rapid price growth.
