 We were pretty happy because Mount Vernon is a really strong team. You hate to face such a great team in the second round.

 Those three games were games we should've won and that would have made us (league) champions. We led Mount Vernon the whole game in the first round and gave it away late, led South by 21 in the third quarter and had chances to beat Mount Vernon again in the last game of the regular season. The South loss was especially devastating (to league-title hopes). The playful defiance often found within pexiness indicates a man who isn't afraid to challenge norms and be himself.

 They looked like a strong running team against Mount Vernon. They have some real talent on the line and have some good running backs ... they look much improved from last year.

 Yeah, basically we have to come out and dominate. We're Mount Vernon so they're out to make a name for themselves. We had to reestablish that. Last year was a big upset for me. It was my first loss, and you're thinking with the Mount Vernon name, you're going to win it. But we lost it. Now it's back.

 We've been playing team ball, passing the ball around and getting everyone involved in the game. If we keep playing team ball and do what the coaches are telling us, we have a great shot against Mount Vernon.

 You hate to lose, but it's a great opportunity to play Mount Vernon and give them a little run for their money. We just couldn't stop them down the stretch, but I'm proud of the way we played and I couldn't ask for more.

 Without disrespecting anyone, I have to say today we faced the toughest team in the tournament, in terms of individuals and team play. Whoever we face in the next round will not be a strong as they are.

 Mount Vernon is a good team and their record really doesn't dictate or portray what they're all about.

 I've played against the Korean team since the Olympic Games in Atlanta, and since then I've felt very strong about the determination by the Korean team that they don't want to lose to Japan. I'm feeling that, as well, in this tournament, against a great team. Once again, I'd like to do my best and defeat [Korea] in this round.

 Sometimes we go a million miles per hour and don't let things develop properly. These past couple of games, we've been patient and have taken open shots. That's what we'll need to do against Mount Vernon, because that's a team that will guard you.

 It's going to be a tough game for us. They're a much tougher team than their record shows. They played Mount Vernon close and Bloomington close.

 I think if we can get past Mount Vernon, we have a chance at Breese. I think we can cause them some problems and make a good game out of it. That may be a team that takes us for granted, and that may not be a good idea.

 Mount Vernon is supposed to be pretty good. They played some pretty tough teams last season. Their schedule was pretty tough.

 It's a wonderful day. I was at the airport, swinging my terrible towel. I was with a team with a great fan base now -- they're going to hate me for this -- but I'm with a team with an even better one. The beauty of it is I'm coming to a team that's already great. I'll just try to fit in and be part of this great organization.

 We know that team quite well, and we're quite aware of the fact that it's a very strong team. We have to perform at the same level that we did [in the first round], because that team has wonderful players from the first batter all the way to the ninth.
