 We're standing behind Carla 100 percent. This is just shocking and devastating to those of us who know Carla. What we want is for the board to give her a hearing and at least let her tell her side of the story. We feel that's the least the board can do for her.

 This is a change from our normal process. Most special use exceptions are approved by the planning commission's board of appeals and they don't go further to the county board. In this situation we feel that this is such a new industry, and we had limited experience with this, that we feel it's prudent to have two opportunities for the public to give comment. And so the county board will give their final approval on this.

 Samantha and Carla's budding friendship might not turn into anything that would result in a lawsuit, but I feel it's good to be aware of it and to just keep an eye on it.

 It's going to change the board from a prudential body and a restraining influence into a bunch of cheerleaders. It will give the board a strong incentive not to look too closely at the numbers. It puts directors on the same side as management.

 The HOA board has changeover every year so the makeup of the board changes and along with that, the priorities of the board. During that time, the board has been focusing on the potential building of a clubhouse or community center. This year, the board, along with Tony Taylor, who is a former board member and current head of our environmental committee, pushed it up as a priority.

 If the board is uncomfortable with the financial situation, and if the board does not feel like these agreements will go forward, the board could vote to file Chapter 11 (Thursday).

 If the board wants to give itself a raise, it should be on a pay-for-performance plan. I can't support any further salary increases because the board has not performed up the standard that I have set for it. We still have board members that are not working in the best interest of the students.

 Clearly, we need to give the people an opportunity to keep more of their money which is now creating the surplus, for them to decide how to make use of their own money, ... Now ... the way to do that is to do it with an across-the-board, tax-rate cut. I would like to see it be 10 percent across the board.

 I believe that these concerns warrant a board hearing to consider all of the evidence in the case before the board makes a recommendation to the governor,

 He's just really a nice man, he was a great guy. Carla lived with him. He helped her out.
