More and more jobs gezegde

 More and more jobs, both manufacturing and service jobs are sent overseas; these jobs won't come back any time soon.

 The biggest thing is the decline in wages for the low and moderate income people. Part of it is large periods of higher than average unemployment, globalization ? jobs going overseas ? the shift from manufacturing jobs to lower paying service sector jobs, immigration, the weakening of unions, and the fact that the federal minimum wage has been declining relative to inflation.

 The overall benefit to the state in keeping manufacturing companies and jobs in Connecticut can not be overstated. Although we have lost manufacturing jobs over time, manufacturing still makes up nearly 20 percent of our gross state product, and each manufacturing job supports many more jobs in support and related industries.

The industry face of the country has disappeared. Look at Ford; Ford is about to fire 50,000 people. GM has fired 50,000. That's a total of 100,000 people. Can you imagine how many jobs that translates to?

 You're going to get a guy who's straight?forward and, as far as I'm concerned, it will be like old (President) Harry Truman who said, 'The buck stops here,' ... I promise I'll work hard for jobs in this community. We need good?paying jobs for people in our community. My main issue is to get jobs, jobs, jobs because I'm union?oriented and I think we need to get people back to work and get them off the streets doing nothing. That's the best way to bring our economy back.

 Some of those jobs are still going to migrate back down to Cincinnati, where Federated is located. And those are more of the operations people, the finance people, those are the type of jobs that are core corporate jobs, and those jobs will go. So it's not that there won't be something (of a) direct impact locally. There will be some.

 the president didn't talk about manufacturing jobs. All he talked about was making the tax cuts permanent, high school abstinence, steroids for athletes and training prisoners for jobs. People were worried about their jobs. That is what Democrats focusing on.

 The loss of manufacturing jobs after 2000 was just huge, and those jobs haven't come back.

 Wayne is the county that was built through the tremendous growth of business and manufacturing for a century, and now that's declined so the jobs have declined. People came here for jobs. They're leaving for jobs. It's as simple as that.

 The total number of hours worked in the private sector by production labor declined even though there were more of those jobs. That tells me that we're seeing a shift not just away from manufacturing jobs but toward jobs with shorter hours.
